Even buy-outs don't wanna come to Lakers when going opposite way of playoffs!!! Summer should be a comedy/horror sitcom if opening week of free agency Magic isn't sitting outside one of their front doors again?

Lakers weren't aggressively pursuing him. I think they are gonna sign Melo.

Just another guy I thought would NEVER be a Laker (LBJ, Rondo, Lance, McGee & him)

Players want continuity also. Lakers can maybe offer playing time, not a guarantee of playoffs, and definitely will not offer a long term contract because of their not so secret plan of wanting to sign a big name so all cap space will be preserved.

OKC can offer playoffs and if Morris plays well, better chance of long term contract since it is not like they are going to be clearing up cap space anytime soon. OKC is just a far better situation even if LA was in playoff contention. The downside of saving space or wanting to sell the farm for AD is that theres no promise of continuity which players want. Would you want to come to LA and probably be bounced out of town or find a home in OKC if you are an aging vet?

I’m assuming that if we don’t sign Melo, it’s because we want someone like Gortat filling a void at the C spot, I think it’s down to 2 options.. it’s gonna be either Gortat or Melo with Ariza the big prize if he gets bought out, I don’t want Gortat cause I can’t stand the fact that a lot fans are gonna be upset that we value a washed up Gortat over a promising C in Zu, but that’s not how business works but you guys love bashing the FO on any chance you get.

We're not a playoff team, sign Melo and let's go home in April. I'm really sorry for Luke.

I think if we had any interest in Melo he would be signed already. If we do end up signing him it's likely because there's no one else left.

Don't overlook the James Farewell Tour that will last 2-3 years.

Trevor would be the most helpful, but he remains with Wiz & I’m not sure he wouldn’t pick another playoff team that’s better seated right now... The later it gets the lower chance we have to get someone who can actually help.

I expect a healthy dose of Reggie after the break, he is a spot up shooter & doesn’t need to dribble the clock away like BI. When Zo gets back he needs to play every possession aggressively & entire team can’t take plays off if they still don’t play all possessions up & down court, there needs to be changes (Luke looked totally drained vs Hawks) & BI & or Zo need to go elsewhere. I believe BI will be the one, he has hit his FT lately, just needs to pull that trigger more on 3’s & shoot when he gets it not dribble all the time. He worked out by himself but don’t understand why he didn’t work on his 3 pt shot?

Actually can't believe Melo is still only 34. Dude gets talked about (and plays) like he's 38 or 39.

If he actually took care of himself and improved his shot selection he'd be a good pickup. Maybe LeBron can motivate him?

Maginka really made a bad decision trading ZU + Beas for MM. They wanted open roster spot but didn't even pursue any from the buy out market.

ZU is very promising/cheap young talent at C.

Everyone all of a sudden is promising when we trade them, I remember most of you guys were calling Zu useless when the season began.

Zu has more functionality than Melo

I wouldn’t mind Gortat or Monroe over Melo if it comes down to it, and even McLemore since adding another 3pt specialist will help us.

If the reports about Zubac being traded because McGee was mad about his playing time are true, I wouldn't expect the Lakers to go after Gortat or Monroe.

The big reason why they traded him was because he’s gonna be a restricted FA, the Lakers want big fish to fry in July rather then give Zu a nice contract, I don’t believe that report by Turner btw, it is solely unbased speculation... especially since McGee decreasing his minutes means less flu and more energy.. don’t believe everything you hear or read.

There's not really any reason to assume he's wrong other than it not being what fans want to hear.

All this stuff basically comes down to believing what you want to believe.
