|
|
Just looked at a couple of different responses to articles on the proposed AD trade and the overwhelming consensus is that or young guys are not that good.
In general, outside of LA, people think the mega offer is just the Lakers emptying out the closet in spare bedroom.
NEW ORLEANS TIMES PICAYUNE (comments on article):
https://www.nola.com/pelicans/2019/02/lakers-becoming-increasingly-pessimistic-deal-with-pelicans-gets-done-report.html
Quote: | Those players were bad last year and again this year. Boston has sooo much more value, Tatum, Brown, Rozier and a plethora of draft picks |
Quote: | Ingram, Ball, Kuzma w/o LBJ are dreadful and on the Pels minus AD would be dreadful supersize. |
Quote: | Attention FAKERS NO DEAL INGRAM BALL ARE BUSTS not interested. SEE YA |
Small sample size, but it probably reflects a larger trend: people think our "young core" just ain't that special. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

Fakers?
I’m sure that’s not an emotional, Laker hating pelicans fan with a bias opinion.
Better for us. They will complain in 2 years when the young core is good and their team is ready to move to Seattle. |

The sky is still blue, Hell hasn’t frozen over, and people still hate the Lakers. |

Good luck trying to tell Laker fans this. We way overrate our guys, especially Brandon Ingram. But our young guys are also better than what other fans out there think. They like to downplay our young players, because hype them up so much. |

If we had a player at the level of Simmons, or even Donovan Mitchell, the trade is probably done b/c the Pels can't turn down talent.
Lakers young guys have been disservice by a lack of developmental coaching and it shows. The perception of them nationally is so low. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

But Jaylen Brown kid future all star
Don't kid yourself if the Lakers had drafted Tatum instead of Ball these comments would still be the same |

these last 15 games or so show how bad are young players.
they are simply inconsistent.
Some games they will play well. Others not.
The Celtics players of Rozier and Brown showed what they could do in a playoff situation.
Our players are not mentally tough. |

The Celtics players are just as inconsistent. Tatum had a game two-three weeks ago where he played 29 minutes and went 0-6 with two points. We didn't hear a peep about it. Why? Because of narratives. Look up Jaylen Brown's last 15 games they are every bit as inconsistent as our young cores. |

Right, but the second they go somewhere else people change the narrative. ie Russell and Randle. People love to devalue the Lakers young guys. |

As with any player the Lakers have had over the years, their value is automatically lower because they are on the Lakers. It's just the hate for the Lakers that exists, just like we see that no team wants to send a star to the Lakers. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I think it’s more because we are starting to cross into Dallas Cowboy territory
So much hype without the results. |

Are the Celtics players really that much better than the Lakers core? I mean even if you say the Celtics young core are Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier, if we were to swap them out with Ingram, Lonzo, and Kuzma, would those Celtics players be outclassing ours? Would Lonzo, Ingram, and Kuzma then be getting the hype?
I might be a bit biased but I think playing on playoff teams tend to boast certain players credentials. |

10 championships, 5 since 2000?
We've achieved more recently than the Cowboys over the past 20 years. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Many here agree. We have some guys who will likely be solid players but not stars. Out of our tanking years DLO will probably be the best player but we know how that turned out. I would (hopefully) put Lonzo next follower by Julius and then Ingram. The rest in whatever order you want. I wouldn’t be shocked if DLO ends up being the only all star (for those who are impressed by that). _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I loved DLO coming out of that draft, even more then Towns. Towns is a game changer was always fragile mentally. I thought DLo didnt care what you thought as much. He had a little bit of swagger. |

They aren't that good. Flashes of stardom intermixed with mostly inconsistent play. We are trying to sell potential with this AD trade, not their historical results. |

All the pelicans want is potential... Thats what draft picks are... Potential..
There is a good chance any 3 of our guys will turn out better than anyone in this draft... |

Are we supposed to legit consider a opinion of someone that uses the word "Faker"?
This is the most winning franchise in NBA history.....even with the losing seasons of late....I cant take someone who says that as a legit "opinion" |

But when we make a honest evaluation of their "ceilings" have we seen anything from any of them that screams "star in the making"? I think Zo, BI and Kuz are certainly going to be decent NBA players - but decent NBA players aren't the fuel for a championship run. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

They are not as good as Laker fans hype them up to be but they aren't as bad as opponents think they are. They are above average players who have potential that hasn't been met and maybe in the right situation some will eventually make an all star team. |
