We went from a 36% to 29% chance at a top 4 player to a 9% chance

We cut our chances at the best NBA prospect in 15 years by 75%

I understand that you want the young players to do well. That makes perfect sense... you play hard for 45 minutes then lose at the end.

Winning is meaningless once you are eliminated from the playoffs

Do you think it's bad sportsmanship or immoral when Popovich or Kerr rest their players at the end of the season?

I watched every game and rooted for them to win until they were virtually eliminated from making the playoffs.

At that point I wanted them to lose because we could have had a 36% chance at a top 4 pick.

Instead we won when it no longer mattered.

This is like rooting for tacos after you've been eliminated from the playoffs... except you don't get any tacos and we all but destroyed our odds to get Zion or a top 4 pick.

I'm happy the kids got run at the end... but what about all those pointless wins with LBJ and the rentals?

This whole season was a bitter disappointment

Seeing as how Zion is going #1 that math is way off.

The best case scenario would have been 9%

More realistic was 7%

We are now at 2%.

Math seems not far off to me.

The "best case" wasn't realistic at all and you can't say the team went from a 9% chance to a 2% chance when the team was never that low.

When we came back from 16 to defeat Chicago we were right in the thick of things had we lost.

Like Danzag said... there is no reason to get pissed off at the loses we are playing G league guys and you just can’t expect them to play bad on purpose, all the G league guys Jones/Caruso/Williams/Bonga etc are trying to Impress the Lakers and other GMs who might look at them during the summer.

Lakers need to have Orlando Magic luck in the NBA draft. I'll be happy with #1 or #2 pick.

only 10 games ago the Lakers were in complete control of their tanking destiny. If the Lakers lost the last 10 days we would be sitting at the 6th bottom seed with an almost 4 in 10 chance at a top 4 pick. And worst case we could draft Deandre Hunter if we dont move up. Or we could use the pick as a sweetener to push through the AD trade.
But the FO never really got a real tank rolling and now we are sitting at 11 with a less than 1 in 10 chance of getting a top 4 pick.

Word around the league is they want the pick to convey this year so they can move on with their rebuild. Can’t really blame them since this draft class stinks.

i heard they rather give the celtics their pick this year which is why they havent been intentionally tanking.
If I were them i would have tanked hard this year and next year tank even harder to get 2 consecutive lotto picks plus cap space to hopefully be a solid team in the 2021 season

The FO doesn't have much control over whether or not they win or lose. With "tanking" you can only increase the odds of losing, but the other team can play like crap and the other players on your team can overachieve.

Still have a chance to finish with a tie at the 10th spot with Minny after the Blazers lose.

Still have a chance to split the odds for 10th. A coin flip would decide who gets 10th.

So this is great news for our draft right? No risk of Magic (bleep) up our lottery pick.

Bol Bol would be literally pair of human crutches as he already is and certainly would be under our med staff but who else has any game at the 10/11 pick you can build around?

If they win we end up being tied with them for the 10th spot.. thus a coin flip will decide who gets the 10th spot.

We split the odds and if nobody jumps into the top 4 then it is a coin flip.
