Luke Walton reportedly ‘doesn’t fit the mold’ of what Magic Johnson wants in a head coach, Lakers hoping to ‘get their own coach in at some point’
”Since Magic has taken over, they had been hoping to get their own coach in at some point. We saw it play out in the meeting they had earlier in the year where Magic really went after Luke,” Wojnarowski said. “If they’re going to be able to go to Jeanie Buss and sell her on replacing Luke Walton, they better be trying to do it off a season where they missed the playoffs or off of a long losing streak. Because she has been fiercely loyal to Luke Walton.”
“That was her hire in every way, and so far she has kept management off of him. They’ve allowed Magic and Rob Pelinka to change everything there, they haven’t been able to touch Luke Walton.”
“Magic’s view of a coach remains Pat Riley. The fiery, old-school (guy). That’s his view. Luke Walton doesn’t fit the mold of what he sees in a head coach.”

The worst part of the last 5 years or so has been the constant change in head coaches. Luke has done a great job so far in his three years. Each year the team has exceeded expectations so the underperforming BS needs to stop.
Luke is a modern coach that relates well to his players and keeps the locker room light and the team chemistry great. Do you really want to hire some old head that has no idea how to relate to this generation?
Magic needs to get off Luke’s back. Who’s even available that would be significantly better? Chill Magic, you’ve done well so far, this would set you back.
I don't buy it. I doubt Woj knows what's going on inside the Lakers organization. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
Woj paints a very bleak picture of lebron and magic here. Is it accurate or agenda driven? Thr clips get better press than the lakers right now, what is happening?
WOJ has always been kept outside the LeBron box. He has a huge thing against LBJ and his teams guys. Dont take too much from anything WOJ says about us.

Whether we like it or not, WOJ is an insider who is one of the most well-connected guys in the NBA. If you don't think he has sources within the Lakers organization then you're naive. The guy is a successful sports journalist for a reason.
I don't get why everyone's personal/emotional opinion gets in the way and everyone tries to discredit his work. His track record is pretty damn good and that's why he has a huge following and gets paid the big bucks. Period.
The dude didn't even know the Lakers were going to draft Russell. Mitch burned him and he was totally humiliated. lol _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
Woj has turned into a tabloid reporter all for clicks and ratings. He should stick to what he does best which is breaking news. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
[speculation]I believe WOJ that Magic wants to get rid of Luke, people have been saying that all year. The problem is ever since that yelling match with Walton, LBJ has come out in STRONG support of Luke and has put managed to lead the team to a 17-11 record after being down 2-5.
I don't think Lebron wants Luke gone and he'll do a lot to try and keep Luke there. In which case Magic is up against Jeannie and Lebron and I don't think he wins that fight if the Lakers put together a good record this year xD [/speculation]

Magic should just make Luke hire better assistants instead of just getting rid of him altogether imo. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
