Yes, but we also assumed George was a lock. So why doesn't being wrong about that inform our guesses on KD's intentions? That's way more instructive IMO. Lebron came here way more for non-basketball reasons than for basketball reasons.
KD is not making Space Jam 2 or starting a film production company or moving his family to the city they want to live in. |
Lebron and KD is a title favorite.
Lebron and Beal is a dark horse.
If Magic thinks KD is fairly likely it's smarter to go that way, even if you acknowledge the inherent uncertainty. |

RIGHT, like the Wizards are watching this game and saying... We want Ingram.
Besides which it isn't just KD. If you trade for Beal you get ZERO shot at any max free agent next offseason. |
I think that's only sightly lower than the percentage we have without the trade.
And god forbid there would be money left over for an actual team. Think of all the guys just barely keeping this team afloat that we'd have to lose (Javale, Tyson, yes, even KCP) just to afford one of them. |
