Who is the All Star they would be able to get for just half of the core?

Well, if (emphasis on “if”) the Lakers were going to trade for a star, they should’ve done it before the season.

The value of the young core was much higher during the summer. It’s slipped a bit since the season started.

And the opposite with the “stars” the Lakers may want to trade for like Kemba or Kawhi, their value was lower before the season started, but with them now playing like mvp candidates their stocks have risen much higher.

Bradley Beal.

Get him at all costs. Lakers do NOT develop players.

Lakers need to trade for a real shooter, someone who can shoot and make 3’s consistently.

They are not blowing up the plan unless some miracle makes Davis or Giannis available. The path to a championship is patience - 2nd max FA in 2019 and then monetize some assets for trades once we’re above the cap.

What they need to do is fire Luke ASAP and get a proper coaching staff in place.

Yeah, I don't think half the core can fetch a player like Beal or Kemba.

I hope so. Not because I have given up on our young guys but because Luke and his staff are so inept the only way we can over come them is with established star talent. The young cores development is being stifled by our coaching staff, therefore it's better to parlay them into a star now while GMs still believe their is untapped potential left.

I hear the Lakers shot 15% from 3 today.

15% from 3.

Holy crap. So ... about that shooter the Lakers desperately need?

What's the "core" at this point, really? Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, and maybe Hart? Lakers traded away one valuable trade chip in Russell and let another in Randle walk for nothing.

if you think DLO aid valuable, I suggest you go on the Nets board where the consensus is that they rather let him walk than pay him. Randle is a different story.

If Magic was going all in on Lonzo Ball, was it possible to keep Russell?

I think it was absolutely possible, at least for a while, depending on what you want to add in the future. Maybe there is some intersection of minutes the two would get, but I still think the primary reason for trading Russell was to get rid of the Mozgov money to chase LeBron. Getting rid of Russell was more a LeBron all-in, than a Lonzo all-in.

I voted yes, but the only trade that I see working is for Kemba Walker. He will only have an 18 million cap hold as a free agent and if we trade Ball and Ingram for him we could still sign Kawhi...

Kemba, Bonga
Hart, Svi
Kawhi, Kuzma
LeBron, Wagner
???

I'm not sure Kemba wants out, and Jordan is going all in to keep him.

We were doing fine until the last two games.

At least we improved in the Orlando game... this game was a huge setback but what can you do when your star player has a terrible game and you lose your point guard/best defender.

Could we use a shooter? Sure... but why panic and kill the KD dream over a couple bad games.

The key is to bounce back and win the next five games.

If we go on a prolonged losing streak and dip below .500 then maybe we do something more drastic.

The main problem with the team isn't skill... but it is very frail psychologically.

If things go well... it's contagious... if things go poorly... we can go south very quickly.

The only people with the right mindset on the team are Kuzma and Lance, and they just aren't great shooters. Maybe KCP, but this year he's regressed somewhat.

We've really missed Julius the last two games for his physicality... and we need a Kyrie type that can will us to victory.

I'd trade good assets for Kyrie or Lillard... maybe Kemba... but I've never seen Beal take over games like those three.

I don't watch Washington's games that much so I only know he's a good shooter... but we need more than that... we need someone who can be unconscious during times of high pressure... not just a good shooter... and we need a strong bully ball player as our centers are either too weak or old.

Short of acquiring one of those types... we probably should just roll with what we have and get that max agent next year.

We weren't. Lebron heroics were papering over poor performances

It's hard to tell because everyone defers to him.

Not saying it's wrong to do that because he's the best player... but if he got hurt with the rest of the team intact, we'd get a better picture of how team actually functions.

He makes a lot of momentum killing turnovers. Ingram has too at times, but LBJ is a 16 year old vet and he throws the ball away all the time during possessions we can't afford to sacrifice. He also takes a lot of defensive plays off.

I'm glad we have him, but I knew we'd live and die by his play because of his style.

His defensive rating is 106.6 for the year, Ingram's is 105.7 and Lonzo's is 109. He hasn't been a turnstile since the early games ... except for this Denver game.

It's fairly easy to tell we struggle to score without Lebron. Everything looks hard for Ingram, Lonzo is reluctant to be aggressive, KCP has lost his shooting, and Kuzma's off and on. Where's the consistent scoring coming from? The only person I can think is Hart bombing from range.
