If Wizards are asking for 4 picks and a good player I say we pass up on Beal, you only give up a haul for a clear cut superstar, Beal is only a great complimentary piece... not worth it.

As good as it sounds and the pairing that it could potentially make... I wouldn't do it!
All of the pieces, including BI are to valuable IMO.
What he could potentially become as a 2-guard in the NBA is too much risk of losing. Plus Zo+Kuz+Hart = Way too much to ask for.

I say if we can't get an additional "Needed" piece without giving away our entire future, that we simply wait on Free Agency Next Year. We're sure to get an All-Star to pair with LBJ.

Is trading for Beal means we give up in coming summer’s FA market?

Beal ? He's already the second best guy on a really undistinguished team, and worse he's a one-way player. Kuzma can fill that (20 ppg) scoring role in another year, he's cheap and on board. Beal has continual conflict with the main ball-hander, the team star. I don't see how he upgrades the Laker club in enough ways to justify loss of multiple promising players and picks.

GAWD NO.

Agree.
If the front office does this movie I won't really be happy about watching the team play.

Nice read E.

I agree the price for Beal is key here. Though his salary creates some risk for the free agent plans, how much is sort of debatable. There's the bird in hand argument while also having room to improve the team in other areas. But it's also a cap rich environment next year making it likely you could move Beal for an asset if you needed to clear space. I also don't think you can discount the willingness of a guy like KD to take less if he thinks that materially improves the team (vis a vis keeping Beal). If we're talking the AD trade route, whose to say NO wouldn't value Beal more than what LA gave up to acquire him and/or what you could get for him in a 3-way. If AD only becomes available as a free agent, you may have a better situation too.

It all depends on the price tag. KCP, either Ball or Ingram, and filler okay. Much more than that no dice.

OK!

How about KCP, Ball, Beasley and a 1st round pick, that should match up money wise...

KD has come out and said he's looking at all the people around the league getting their money, and now he wants his. He says for FA he's thinking about the money he's gonna get. So no discounts

Here's what I think the Salary Cap Numbers regarding a Bradley Beal trade are.

Without a trade:

Code:

2019 Projected Salary Cap: $109,000,000

Max Slot: up to $39,081,698 - (Lakers first round pick $)
James: $37,436,858
Ball: $8,719,320
Ingram: $7,265,485
Wagner: $2,063,520
Kuzma: $1,974,600
Hart: $1,934,160
Bonga: $1,416,852
Mykhailiuk: $1,416,852
(minimum): $896,885
(minimum): $896,885
(minimum): $896,885
Deng (dead cap): $5,000,000

Assuming a Bradley Beal trade for KCP, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma + other expirings, you only get about $20M which you can't get a max free agent with (it bumps up to $21M if Hart is included in the Beal trade)

Code:

2019 Projected Salary Cap: $109,000,000

FA Slot: up to $20,331,879
James: $37,436,858
Beal: $27,093,019
Ball: $8,719,320
Wagner: $2,063,520
Hart: $1,934,160
Bonga: $1,416,852
Mykhailiuk: $1,416,852
(minimum): $896,885
(minimum): $896,885
(minimum): $896,885
(minimum): $896,885
Deng (dead cap): $5,000,000

I think it's too early to wreck the 2019 max free agent plan.

$20mil might be enough to sign a rehab'd Cousins...

Cousins did his achilles. That's the same injury that's finished a number of different careers. He's 100% a wait and see

Bigger fish and a bigger plan for 2019. Patience here.

Rather have the money for the summer with all the names available, which would likely still include Beal.

We still have 62 games left and we can have a much better idea of what Ingram and Ball are going to be.

Or at least until the trading deadline, when some teams may be in panic mode and reduce the asking price for a star (like the Pau deal).

It's not a championship move, and honestly annoying that we have to hear about him so often...Get Klay, KD, Kawhi instead.
