I don’t see why anybody would trade for him, just wait for him to be released. I’d happily give him Beasley’s minutes, he’s better than Beasley. The problem is that he thinks he’s still good and isn’t willing to play 8-10 minutes a game. Hard pass on Melo, time to retire.

Le GM back in action!

I hate the way this guy and his people handle their business....it is just weak. Be a man...go to Rob and speak to him, don't use the media like a punk.

I think this is Stephen a smith trying to speak things into existence. Carmelo is one of the players he kisses up to in exchange for access.

We back to being the retirement home for washed up stars? Keep Beasley where he is. He hasn't disrupted the team chemistry and looks content in getting the limited minutes.

I think it sort of make sense that Lebron would want Melo on the team. With the public dissing that KD made and all the talks that Kawhi, Jimmy Butler and PG13 dont want to play with him, Lebron may be viewing Melo as some sort of reclamation project that could help him improve his reputation

With the way things went down in OKC and Houston, Melo probably is viewed as the worst star to play with. So if Lebron can make It work,, he would have “proof” everyone wrong. It would also serve as good advertisement for 2019 summer. “Come play with me, look what I turned a washed up Carmelo into”

Now, personally i think that going anywhere close to Melo is a bad idea...but i could see the logic in it

I get that he's buddies with several marquee players but this weird sentiment that Melo being done is some kind of basketball tragedy is so strange. The guy has been washed for years. Every career ends. He made a ton of money, which he always prioritized over winning. He never struck me as someone that lives for the game. Just retire, dude.

I would be interested in bringing melo here off the bench, but the only thing that not having me completely being sold of bringing melo here off the bench is we have Luke as a coach. He would be trying to finish games with melo, and giving him a hell of a lotta minutes, disrupting our young players development.

It’s just not worth it, for this reason alone. #bigpicture

Lakers have no interest in acquiring Carmelo Anthony, per sources. Sources said people want to attach players to Lakers now. Sources said Melo people called Lakers a while back and that LeBron hasn’t talked to Lakers prez Magic Johnson/Rob Pelinka about getting Melo.

People are so stupid. And you can be sure more Carmelo Lakers rumors will pop up next month, too, and we'll go through the same cycle again until he finds a new home (China).

The people in the media who stir this up are looking for hits but they do mean well. They are always trying to steer players toward the Lakers because a good Lakers team = better business for them.

Melo's people doing their best at marketing him & Lakers/LeBron
sound like a story.

Nothing else going on IMO.

Great news.

Beasley and Stephenson are better basketball players right now and aren't 10% of the locker room cancer Melo is.

I don't doubt that he can make some contribution... he shoots better than Lance and will probably make less mistakes.

The problem is whether he demands minutes and stunts the progress of some of the younger players.

I have a sinking feeling this may happen because of the LBJ connection but I hope it doesn't.

if he acts up or prevents young players from progressing we cut him it’s quite simple... it’s basically a risk that can end up being huge for us, not trying to support the move but I can’t act like we are somehow doomed if we get him, Lance was cut from the Clippers and Memphis but has played good basketball with the Pacers and this year with the Lakers... every player adapts at some point.

Although I understand Melo may be able to contribute in some way, it is at the expense of taking minutes away from the youth. I don't like that prospect.

It's his job at ESPN to garner ratings. That often involves saying things that aren't true. Only way he joins the Lakers is if half the roster gets injured, but I'd give that a 1-2% chance of happening.

Happy to see someone put a stop to the rumors. It should be obvious since Carmelo only makes things worse anytime he is on the court at this stage in his career. I am so tired of hearing people talk about how he can still make a difference. The problem is he is not willing to adapt and change his mindset or game much at all even though he is a shell of his former self. I honestly can't spin him coming to the Lakers in a positive light no matter what angle I look at it from.
