|
|
We routinely evaluate the FO for decisions made regarding the players currently on the roster, and that is how it should be.....but the current FO has moved or not retained several key young players over the last couple years. Many of those players are performing well this season for other teams. Any regrets in regards to not keeping former players?
Traditional Stats via ESPN

Julius Randle (Age - 23) - 18 PPG / 8 RPG / 3 APG / 26.0 MPG / 22.25 PER
Jordan Clarkson (Age - 26) - 16 PPG / 3 RPG / 2 APG / 24 MPG / 18.90 PER
Larry Nance Jr. (Age - 25) - 7 PPG / 7 RPG / 2 APG / 21.9 MPG / 15.34 PER

DLo got us Hart... I'm good
Randle... can argue he got us Rondo but... this one HURTS
JC... replacable, Lance like, I'm good
Nance... got us Moe, even if not, for his new salary... I'm good
Nwaba... replacable, I'm good |

Out of all of them it's Jules for me.
I am a DLO fan, but I understand why it had to be done. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

People spend every day complaining about guys that aren't here anymore. I think there is a regret or two.
The team is getting better every year, that's all i care about. I'm done trying to play keyboard gm. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy this playoff run. |

I have reservations about DLo and Randle....have to see how it plays out. In a weird way, I am still not sure Nwaba had to be released. Who else was going to give KCP that type of money? Every time i watch the guy, I am impressed. He is still somewhat raw offensively, but has clearly improved....and he is a nightmare around the rim for opposing teams....and is perfect for switching schemes. |

Here's a better comparison:
We got:
Lebron
Javale
Kuzma/Hart (one of them)
Rondo
Chandler
Mo Wagner
Max slot
Deng and Mosgov off the books
We gave up:
Lou Williams
D'Angelo Russell
Julius Randle
Jordan Clarkson
Larry Nance Jr.
David Nwaba
i don't like the Randle deal. But what can you do... he wanted a 2 year deal. _________________ "He may say it's not you, it's him.... but it's really you." |

Didn't like seeing Russell go...wish we would've been more patient but it is what it is. |

I regret losing Nance. I thought for all his short comings that he was a gritty player who played some defense and was fun to watch. He’d fit what we are doing now in terms of being a fast paced team. Him spelling Lebron 10-12 min a game at PF would be nice.
Lou, DLO im glad are gone...swaggy and JC too. They were all talented offensively to some degree but none of them played D. I prefer Hart to any of them. Hart CAN be a piece on a championship team at some point IMO, I don’t thing the same of the others.
With Randle, I’m glad we didn’t commit to him Long term but I wish he’d have been willing to accept a backup C role or at least have gotten something for him in return. I know he was shopped and we couldn’t get any picks for him, but if we could have flipped him for an expiring shooter it would have been nice. He is probably the best of all of the Jim/Mitch picks...as BI has been meh and he’s playing pretty well as his numbers are almost identical to last season except he’s making .5 more 3 pointers a game. I wish we’d have handled that whole thing better, but ultimately he’s just an average NBA player that has some big weaknesses...so I don’t miss him. |

I was sad to see DLO go at the time he left, but Hart is better. DLO had a lot of potential, very high ceiling/pretty low floor, but so far his career trajectory has been mostly floor. Hart is a better player right now. Same for Kuz if that's your preferred comparison.
Randle - sorry to see him go, but LeBron is our PF, we've got 2 great center options this year, and Randle wanted paid.
Larry Nance - miss his personality and occasional sky high dunking, but with Kuz and LeBron on this team, his fit on offense would be marginal. He was a smart defender and communicator though. He's happy in Cleveland, it's home to him, so that's cool.
I missed Brook Lopez, but the McGee and Chandler tandem is making me forget him real fast.
Clarkson? I liked his personality off the floor, but he was a frustrating player.
I'd have to say of all our recent ex-players I miss Nance most, but no regrets at all. |

Randle is the only one on that list where I don't think we brought in a replacement - unless you see Lebron as the Randle replacement.
Small ball center would have worked with Randle, but now we have Chandler, so no worries about it. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Yup. While we are at it I don’t miss Sacre, Lin, boozer, huertas, Wesley Johnson, Xavier Henry, Ryan Kelly, Roy Hibbert, Mosgov, Deng, Anthony brown, Brandon bass or Tarik Black either. I did like Ed Davis tho. Man, our previous FO Sucked, look at those names lol. |

The only one that bothers me is Randle... BUT, if we sign an all-star free agent next summer I am good with it. |

Kent Bazemore is the 3-D player this team can use so I would probably say Bazemore is the guy we miss the most from this current team, and also LouWill. |

Randle is the only one. But We'll see. We gave him up for someone that is coming next year right? If we don't get anyone then yes I will have big regrets and frustrations. |

Its so early in the season i doubt most of these good statz by our old players hold up. Take out dlo's last game and he's shooting in the mid 30's. Its just way too early to put up there stats and say this is how good they are. |

Well, the replacement for Randle is Lebron AND next years max slot availability. That is pretty significant. If we are unable to sign anyone, then all the complaints will have a point, but if we end out getting someone significant, then you all will be much quieter about Randle. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! I had a soft spot for Nwaba, but Lakers filled all the gaps at the guard position and then some. Cavs got a good one. |
