And you don't know that. You don't know that if we go up to 9 years, the Yankees don't up it to 10.

You don't know how ridiculous the Yankees were willing to go.

We probably drew a line in the sand at 7 and then convinced ourselves to add that extra yr to make it an 8 yr deal, thinking no way the Yankees will jump to 9.

^ yeah not sure it's 1 year/30M for an ace. It's more like 3 years/90M for a guy on the wrong side of 35 [for those years]. Not sure that that's a smart move.

Year after year we lowball big free agents only to come up just short and have to dig through the bargain bin. Getting a bit fed up with it tbh.

Imagine if we had that Pollock/Kelly money to go after Rendon and Cole this year?

The Los Angeles #Dodgers and Cleveland #Indians continue to be engaged in serious trade talks for Cleveland All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor, with Cleveland seeking a package of Dodgers prospects including Gavin Lux and Dustin May.

Gimme Lindor and Rendon!
That would be insane if that happen. But hopefully at least one.

I would rather send out Seager than either of those.

No doubt.
Maybe we can flip Seager for another pitcher?

Interesting. MLB might not allow the LOOGY next year. That would make pitching matchups interesting....

Andy's take:

Quote:
Bill Plunkett
@billplunkettocr

Asked #Dodgers Andrew Friedman about the anti-LOOGY rule and he said he sees it as a potential value boost to LH hitters who struggle vs. LH pitchers because they could see "way fewer matchups" against lefty specialists.

Maybe we want to keep the Seagers, Luxes and Jocs.
Man, I can't stand Seager in the playoffs. Lefties just kill him.
Similar to our MVP as well. Brutal. I bet the Dodgers would have done way better the last few years if they didn't allow the LOOGY then.

I'm one for keeping Seager unless something outstanding is offered in a trade--which I doubt will happen.

I'm not sure what happened to him last year, but his approach changed, he was less patient and his swing was different. His swing seemed longer and maybe with more of a loop--but I've not seen a comparison to make this a definite point.

He's still young. Give him an off-season to work on his swing and a full spring and I would not be surprised to see the old, or better, Seager.

Didnt the old Seager also suck against lefties in the playoffs?
But agree. Can't just give him away. He'll still be nice for us in the regular season at the minimum.

If we get Lindor, I'm hoping Seager is included, because it will lessen the prospect return they get. I'm not keen on giving up both Lux and May in a Lindor deal.

If Correa is also on the trade market, then who are we bidding against to include Lux and May?

Who out there can offer a package comparable to Lux and May?

Wasn't there some talk or rumor of a Kluber/Lindor package?

That looks alarming at first glance but it also shows the Dodgers have >350 million in debt. Teams like the Yanks, red sox, and giants have > 3B valuations and zero debt

Also, why are the Cardinals part of the competitive balance program? They are 7th in valuation and revenue, 10th in OI, and MLB rewards them with extra draft picks?

Throw Brad Hand in too, while they are at it. LOL. But yeah, I did hear some rumblings about that. Kluber isn't exactly coming off a stellar year, however.

That would be grand.
But I think the young guys for Clev like Hand and Bieber dont get moved. Bauer, Clevinger and Kluber? Perhaps.

Yup, this is the bargain basement signing that was predicted. Go after Cole one day, sign Treinen the next.

Nolan or Rendon (just as players without taking into consideration trade pieices and contract), who you got right now in their careers?

Arenado is the better player, but Rendon wouldn't cost anything but money, while Arenado will cost talent.

Treinen is a reasonable 1-year gamble, given how utterly dominant he was in 2018. Definitely worried he's not physically right, but this type of deal could pay off handsomely if he is.
