Watching the highlights, you can see what happens if a pitcher leaves a strike over the plate. Unless you have 97-100 mph heat, do not throw this team a strike. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Best slugging team against RHP fastballs since 2017. |

That reflects badly on the Cy Young predictor |

Jansen's WAR is 0.1 LOL. To put that into perspective, Julio Urias' WAR is 0.8. CYA contender my tuchas!
Edit: WAR can be strange, though. For example, while Joe Kelly's -0.8 WAR is not a surprise, they have Baez at a -0.2 WAR, despite a WHIP of .903 and an ERA of under 3. |

Giving up a home run to Greinke? Come on Clayton. What are you doing out there? |

Greinke is a pretty good hitting pitcher who hit a pitch on the corner, down and in. Walker, on the other hand, got an 88 MPH lazy something that was unsuccessfully trying to bend that was right in the heart of the plate. Even I could hit that . . . well maybe foul off one in ten. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

I think Christian Walker hits .500 against the Dodgers with a 2.000 OPS lol. |

#Dodgers interested in #Pirates closer Felipe Vázquez, source says. Pittsburgh has no urgency to move Vázquez -- they have team options through 2023 -- but #Dodgers want to add the best reliever possible and have a strong farm system.

I feel bad for this new pitcher getting his first start in the majors today against the Dbacks. Gonsolin. First batter gets on base with a bunt. Second batter gets on with a weak single where Gonsolin can't get to the bag in time. Third batter hits a home run on the first bad pitch he's made all game. Fourth batter hits a ball to Joc who bobbles it, can't make the play. Fifth batter bounces it up the middle right at Gonsolin, it bounces over his head. (He's thrown out.) Sixth batter hits a line drive right at Gonsolin, it actually goes through his legs. (He's thrown out.)
Right now it's the third inning, he's thrown 51 pitches and has only one out. Dodgers down 5-1. He did get a single in his first at bat, so he's got that going for him. |

It was definitely brutal for this kid. |

He looked good, otherwise. Tough start, sure, but I think he will be a good pen piece for us. His fastball and changeup looked good and he can get even more behind his fastball (sat 94-95, but can touch 100) out the pen.
Had me excited, porous defense and tough luck aside. Oh, and Cody knocked one into the camera well for his 26th. |

Gonna be some combination of May, Lux, Will Smith, Keibert Ruiz |

Relievers are too volatile to give up any real prospects beyond a lotto ticket. |

Same. With rare exception the vast majority that are exceptional only do so for 2 or 3 seasons. _________________ KOBE |

I agree, and I don't think this regime is going to trade Ruiz, Lux, or May. I think anyone else could potentially be on the table. I sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but Will Smith is the answer as a reliever. He'll cost less as a rental and is arguably better for this season. It fits Friedman's MO.
By the way, Dodgers are leading 12-8 in the 9th in a wild one in Colorado tonight. |

Dodgers get 17 hits and Austin Barnes goes a quiet 0-5. Ugh. |

Freakin Colorado, baseball on steroids. I can’t imagine having to be a pitcher on that team knowing pretty much every time a ball goes in the air there’s a chance it’s going out.
That’s why I’m not too worried about this performance by Buehler. Especially as a power pitcher that just bumps up the exit velocity. Hopefully he can put it past him and move on. _________________ |
