Do you know why he's not getting to the line more? I haven't been watching, completely believe that he's been getting to the rim more based on what I saw last season, but it's mind-boggling why that doesn't translate to more free throws.

he gets to spots but he doesn't actively invite/initiate contact on his drives

he tries to go around people in the air, or get there first before they can contest, which causes him to either jump earlier than he should, or try to go over them in that 3-8 feet area with high arching shots

he's been more assertive when he gets there in the past 3 games, but its been Embiid, Gobert, and Gasol/JJJ back there waiting for him

Kyrie has some of the same issues (though he's an even more dynamic finisher at the rim that DLo).

3-8 8 points. There’s no way in hell I would this guy back. He’s appears to be the most inconsistent player in the NBA. He’d make people pull their hair out on these forums.

He’ll probably drop 30+ in the next game followed by 3 stinkers.

Yeah he’s one of the weirdest players I’ve come across in recent memory.

One game he looks like he can take over like a top 10 point guard, the next two or three games, he’s invisible.

What kind of contract do you guys think he gets this summer? He's obviously not a max player but he probably thinks he is.

I would say he ends up taking a two years deal like 2 years, 30 million or something.

Fun game, if magic and rob (given their observed preferences) were in charge during the 2015 draft, would the 2nd pick still have been Dlo? Or does anyone think they would have picked someone different.

Rumour was that the lakers liked porky during that draft but Mitch decided to make the safe choice and go with Dlo. Also Okafor was generating a lot of buzz from the media as a potential 2nd pick at the time.

If Magic was in charge we'd have drafted Okafor and Vonleh instead of Russell and Randle.

Magic tweeted Lakers should draft Okafor because he's a champion(NCAA).

Okafor was the preemptive first pick heading into the 2014-15 college season and only slipped to second in the draft behind KAT around January/February 2015. Nonetheless, that the Lakers took DLo over Okafor was an outrage to the conventional basketball punditry community - look back for Michael Wilbon's asinine commentary at the time - while the savvy basketball nerds were shocked the Lakers would take DLo over reputed big man savant Okafor. Hell, Sam Hinkie arguably lost his job in Philly because he expected the Lakers to take Okafor over DLo and when they didn't he panicked and took Jahlil, analytics and his job security be damned.

The word was that Porzingis rose to #3 on the Lakers board behind DLo and ahead of Okafor late in the process, but that Byron Scott was unenamored of Kristaps' toughness while DLo reminded him of Magic. Ultimately Mitch made the call, but Byron's criticism of Porzingis' toughness was lost to reality as Kevin Ding fashioned an alternate one to suit Jeanie's efforts to oust her brother and Mitch - who didn't send a friendly email around the office after his teenage daughter's death as Jeanie so thoughtfully did after losing her dog, Princess Cujo, those two situations being the same and all - which was a preemptive effort from the Jeanie wing to (bleep) all over Russell in order to justify Magic's hire.

Seriously. DLo caused Jeanie to play the "Mitch was too reticent after his teenage daughter died of cancer," so he's a poor communicator and can't be a good GM card.

But Jim Buss was worse, so Jeanie is still around and celebrated.

Me: had Kurucs as a 1st round pick in 2017 and 2018

Also me: had Malik Monk ahead of Jayson Tatum

You: this guy is just guessin'

Seriously. Someone needs to write about Jeanie's vicious takeover like they wrote about Jimmy's bumbling incompetence for years.
