It's not about hype.

It's about narrowing the gap between the 1st and 29th best three point shooting teams.

If we were 15th... even 20th in shooting... sure draft the defensive stud.

We need shooting

There has never been a team who has won a title shooting as poorly as we do.

Garland could bust... but he's what we need.

Drafting for need is what gets GMs and scouts fired. BPA no matter what. Especially since the player wont get a lot of minutes.

This..
I like Lonzo but it's how you draft Ball over Tatum

A number of folks had Ball over Tatum as BPA.

If Barrett and Garland were both available at #4, you'd take Garland?

The presumption is Barrett will be off the board by then, but let’s say he is on the board. It makes sense to draft him because it makes an AD trade more likely without having to give up all 3 of Lonzo/Ingram/Kuzma.

I’m a little skeptical of Barrett tbh, I don’t see too much separating him, Culver and Hunter. Reddish has more bust potential it seems, but he could be in this group too.

Garland was projected to be a top 5 pick and his skill set is just something the Lakers desperately need imo. I’m ok with Barrett, Culver or Hunter just would lean Garland if I was making and keeping pick but that’s just me the non-expert using vibe, eye test and some analytics on these players

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, Garland could easily be another Burke or Napier just as easily as people think Reddish could be another Wes Johnson.

If we draft Barrett I'm not trading him.

If AD wants in he can come in free agency.

Anyway, sleeper pick for late 1st or early to late 2nd round is Jalen Lecque. If you don't know anything about this kid yet, I suggest you check him out.

You're probably right, but there is some questions about him defensively, especially when it comes to speed and lateral movement.

ehh, so he went to a game with the CEO of Klutch....and Miles Simon and Rich Paul tagged along

I'm sure Garland has been to many a Lakers game since he's been injured. Supposedly Rich Paul takes his college clients to games often, just part of the job.

As for Miles Simon, how did he survive the coach staff change was beyond me... Until now... Not saying he was bad, because he seemed pretty competent with the young guys, but he was the only one who survived. Even Madsen was let go before he found a new gig. Guess it pays to be friends with Lebron.

I don't know anything about the kid, but I like your confidence. Supposedly he's a better prospect than Ingram.

So Mike said the other day his #1 choice would be to trade down to #8 and #10. Does anyone know who he'd ideally pick there? Also, I would love to get Huerter as part of the package as well. Summer League would be LIT.

Agreed. Lakers should trade down and pick him at #7.

So I just watched the video and my only thought was that how isn’t this guy a lottery pick? This guy seems to have elite athleticism.. is there any injury or personal issues preventing him from being in the Top 15 selection?

I would definitely stay in college if I was him, he can raise his stock and can end up being more valuable next year.

I don't know about Jalen Lecque, but keep an eye out for this beast in the 2020 draft:

I know I did, because Lonzo is better than Tatum, but so far more injury prone.

Pretty crazy how Kevin Porter Jr shooting motion is identical to James Harden’s.

If memory serves me correctly Miles Simon was more of a player development coach than an X’s and O’s Assistant coach. Seem to remember him spending a lot of one on one time with the younger guys. Someone must have liked the job he did developing Zo, Kuz and Ingram. Just my opinion though.

There should be no trade downs.
The Lakers are close and only need the best.

Take Garland or Hunter at 4.
Or a player who can shoot.

It is hard to believe the FO let the Lakers be the 29th
best shooting team.

A monkey with a dart board who have done a better job.
Don't you believe it?
29th worse shooting?

Correct.

Also he was a Magic/Pelinka hire which might also explain why he was not fired.

He is not in college. He attended a boarding/prep school this past year.

He was only rated a 4 star recruit. Shooting form looks raw at this time.

I did not know that, assumed he was another Luke Arizona hire.

true, but he signed with NC State this fall....so he still has the option to return to college.
