If everything works out right, Kevin Porter Jr

Not Tyler 'splash cousin' Herro?

KPJ does Harden things but with the strength to play small ball 4.

That Herro FT% might've really been a sign of something.

It is. Made it super confusing playing for Kentucky, naturally, but with a pull up proficiency way higher than spot up. Didn't make sense.

But I think much more optimistically of him and his role that. Jamal Murray.

But Harden basically plays 1-5? He's pretty damn strong himself.

Since when did Harden ever play 3-5?

He had an odd shooting profile, definitely. But that FT% on reasonable volume was one of the most interesting headline data points in last year's draft class almost up there with Zion's efficiency around the rim.

The shooting was always there. It's the ball-handling/decision-making that was well hidden.

He's actually a very good post defender and doesn't get budged by bigger players. What exactly do you mean by "strength" to play small ball 4? Hard to imagine Porter or any guard/wing being significantly stronger than Harden.

Harden a SG that plays the 1, that's it. He doe s what he does well but he should not a small ball PF or C, he's not.

I'm not really advocating for Harden to be a frontcourt player. I'm saying if Porter can play the 4, why can't Harden?

Harden would get abused on the boards. He saves all his energy for extra steps and faking contact when he has the ball

I think what he means is that Harden jacks up enough shots, he is essentially the offensive 1-5, basically he needs 4 other guys to set screens, rebound, and pass him the ball.

That doesn't mean he defends those positions FT.

I know he's an excellent post defender.

Dude is already a 6'6'"225 player. That's usually size of an elite wing. Plenty of upside for strength and he's already a strong dude.

This isn't about a comparison to Harden specifically. More like, what KPJ is capable of.

Because he doesn't really play defense.

This one change alone would have made HOU unstoppable, but Harden can't do it.

Harden guarded LMA in the 2017 elimination game for Houston. He held his own, but by the second half he had dead legs. Too tired to sit down, even. Any player who carries an offense shouldn't be guarding out of position.

Damn, it’s the lateral meniscus; considered far more serious than a medial meniscus debridement bc it can lead to serious changes at the knee moving forward. For example, arthritis rates under 5 years after lateral meniscus debridement >>>>> medial meniscus debridement

Dang. The start of the Greg Oden era?
I wonder if the Pelicans will be like last year's lakers.
Except it's a drop from Lebron to Jrue.

yeah wtf.. this is mos def. a severe injury when considering it's the lateral meniscus and he's going to be putting A LOT of weight on that knee all the time. It could get really ugly even by the time his rookie contract is up.

Yes I remember you highlighting his FT% in multiple posts in the draft thread. Made me reconsider my thoughts on him and another data point to factor for a prospect. Nice observation on your part.

Even Bron found himself guarding out of position at times. This has always been what separates all-stars on the superstar fringe from true goat level players.
