But we can come up with $26.4 mil to get Heild? There is no way I would want to pay him $20+ mil for 4 years. |
You can make salaries match if you include Green. |
Not easily.
Green makes $14 million and Kuz $2 million. So you still need another $8 million or so to match Holiday or Buddy.
That would be Caldwell-Pope or Bradley and McGee.
I think the other teams could do better than Kuz and a bunch of guys they really don't need/want. |
For 24.4M salary we need to send out 19.52M (Can receive up to 1.25 times of what we send out if you didn't know)
Green-15.3
Kuz-3.5
Our 1st rounder-1.6
That covers salary
If we are moving DG, we need his replacement at the 2/3. Some type of versatile wing who can play defense.
Can even include Avery, Mcgee, Cook, and Rondo for salary
I think Kuzma, Green, and 1st is worth Buddy + a bit more, need a 3 teamer | That would be a good deal imo, but Buddy doesn't fit the criteria of versatile wing who can play defense. Unless, Lebron kind of changes his game a bit at this point in this career and becomes a defensive stopper? It would seem LBJ would have less of the offensive load with an inside outside threat of AD/Hield and even less of an offensive load if we are able to get CP3 with an amnesty clause. |

Kuzma to Phoenix for Mikal Bridges
Why for Lakers?
Bridges has already shown that he is a very good NBA defensive wing. He was a good three point shooter in college and has been decent thus far in his 2 year career. I think he projects to be an excelent 3 and D wing in the Danny Green mold. I would also try to package Carter or Okobo in the deal some how.
Why for Suns?
Phoenix has a hole at the 4 and Kuzma would compliment Ayton very well. |

Looking at the off season if no amnesty.
McGee(PO)/Cacok(QO)
AD/Kuzma
LeBron
DG/KCP(PO)/THT
AB(PO)/Caruso/Q.Cook(UG)
Free Agents-Dwight/Dudley/Morris/Waiters/Rondo(please opt out)
We will have a lot of exp k. Near 20M not including DG (Kuzma/McGee/AB/Q.Cook/Rondo) plus a 1st round pick to shop for a star (LaVine, Hield, Holiday etc)
Free Agent Targets should be a G atthe MLE and a wing defender at the Bi-Annual Exception
G-Dragic, Collison, Reggie Jackson, Clarkson, Teague
Wing-M.Harkess,Bazemore, Temple,M.Morris, S.Hill/Hollis-Jefferson/James Ennis/M.Williams/Kidd Gilchrist _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' But, I think he has the potential to be a better nba player than Kuzma and he also fits a need on our team. Kuzma is stuck on the depth chart behind AD and Lebron. Bridges hasn't really broken out yet in Pheonix. He is behind Booker and the other young wing player who's name escapes me. |

Unless they changed the rules, the salary of draft picks count for $0 in terms of salary matching in trades. |

The NBA salary cap is going to drop by a ridiculous amount. Almost every team, except for maybe Atlanta, will be over the cap going into the "offseason". |

PHO likely says no, it is hard to grow your team with so much constant trades and Bridges is like a perfect 3 and d guy for the NBA
Rubio, Book, Oubre, Kuzma, Ayton has poor spacing
It is very hard to think of a realistic trade that works for both sides for a deal around Kuzma
If we package DG for a larger contract player, then we lose a good 3 and d guy
We could use 3 upgrades:
1) Secondary ball handler-Likely come off the bench, but can close games possibly.
Trade Options:
Dinwiddie: Poor fit, don't know if Nets move him for Kuzma, Cook, and our 1st
Derrick white: Doubt the Spurs trade with us
Rose: Worst fit, injury problems concern me
Lowry: Great fit, but costs us DG, so now we have another hole
2) A 3 and d wing
Trade options:
Really not sure who is up for grabs that has a cheap salary. Name them if you can think of many.
3) A stretch big
Trade options:
Bjelica?
I would consider Marc G possibly with MLE or Exception |

A nice breakdown of free agents coming up. We should be able to add a talented piece to the mix with the MLE. Especially with cap coming in lower & not as many teams looking to spend.
A lot good bigs likely available (Millsap, Favors, Baynes, Whiteside) But I would likely pass since we would be able to retain McGee/Dwight/Boogie for cheap.

Ideal summer for me
MLE-Dragic/Clarkson/R.Jackson/Teague
Bi-Annual-Moe Harkless/J.Crowder/Morris
KCP will likely opt out. He has earned a 1 year raise(9-11M)
Resign Dwight with early bird rights
Resign Boogie to unguranteed deal (or take flier on young big like Bender or Giles)
Resign Dudley
Sign either WCS or Noel if we plan to shop our exp K assuming (AB/McGee/Rondo opt in)
Noel/Dwight/Boogie
AD/Kuz/Dudley
LeBron/Harkless
DG/KCP/THT
Caruso/Dragic
I would shop McGee/Bradley/Cook/1st round pick for BPA. Would be able to take back about 19-21M _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' I am not to sure about that. I think something will be worked out, especially since the season looks like it is back on track (and the players are taking a risk). This obviously has been a strange season and Silver is smart enough not to base next years cap on this seasons revenues. The last thing Silver is going to want to do is take $ away from the players because of corona. It would be a good faith gesture and I doubt he will get resistance from the owners. |

It’s almost a guarantee that we will see J.R. Smith in purple & gold next season, he is already hanging out with Lakers players and he will essentially help us with his 3pt shooting. |

He's also the perfect 6th man for this squad... can play 2 positions, get to the basket, attack the rim, create his own shot, shoots at a high clip, play off ball, and be a secondary ball handler.
I WANT Clarkson back in purple and gold.
Also, Harkless is getting full MLE so he's out at the exception. |

you guys bring up a solid point on the FO not going after Smith, but I think the biggest thing is that, J.R. hardly played this season so that’s probably why we didn’t try signing him, we knew he wasn’t in basketball condition with a full summer of training and getting into basketball league games he will have more value. |

Let’s not overrate Harkless. I do t see him getting 9-10M MLE to be a reserve forward who doesn’t have a consistent shot.
Another idea is maybe we can shop the sign & trade market with our exp k & 2020 1st. The Pacers was able to get lucky & obtain Brogdan through sign & trade last summer. Don’t see any players on his level but these guys could be interesting
1. Van Vleet
2. Gallo
3. Millsap
4. Ibaka
5. C.Wood(?)
6. DeRozan(?)
Could offer anywhere from about 12-20M starting off. Will likely only be one year guaranteed since we want to maintain our cap space
Imagine a Gallo/Harkless/Dragic (or JC) summer _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |
