Anyone catch the Steven A Smith radio show this morning? I was able to catch the first twenty minutes or so but two nuggets he dropped on the Lakers:
1) He said Kobe has been in touch with Kyrie Irving and is in his ear about joining the Lakers
2) Magic Johnson personally knows Kawhi's Uncle Dennis and will be recruiting him to the Lakers this off season _________________ He's my GOAT |

Irving has always looked up to Kobe so this could be big for us. |

You’re the only one who doesn’t get it or maybe you’re just being an ass. Many sport shows are talking about this. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Jeanie, do the right thing and offer Uncle Dennis a job with the Lakers. |

Since Toronto restaurant offers Kawhi free food, we should offer him the same deal in L.A. |

Durant going to Clippers
Irving and Butler going to Nets
Kawhi signing with the Lakers |
Hey this was before Kawhi the playoff legend appeared. Things are fluid. Just keep your fingers crossed |
I was high on the Kawhi to LA deal, but the lingering injury bothers me...I think he takes the longer/guaranteed max deal from the Raptors... |
Haven’t you learned anything from last summer? Kawhi was injured when he asked for a trade from a team that could give him the super max.
This is just my opinion when it comes to Kawhi: whatever team he signs to will have a allstar in place already. He knows young players like Siskin don’t show up every night especially on the road. |
LOL You are right. I forgot about that situation with the Spurs...BUT, I think it's different because the Raptors are fully committed to offering the supermax. IIRC, the Spurs didn't go that far... |

Don’t be intentionally dense. Griff has always been about building and maintaining positive relationships — he even said as much in his presser. Griff already has a good relationship with Klutch and if Zion signs there it’ll be all the more reason for him to ensure that relationship is as strong as possible.
That certainly doesn’t guarantee AD to the Lakers by any means, but acting as if it wouldn’t be a positive thing is intellectually dishonest. |

The outside noise leads to these fans to cry, if we ignored it we would feel better. |

Haha, yeah, the 2nd team probably scores more in a game too!
Btw, I'm quite disappointed in whoever made the list for leaving Lonzo off the list of guards and including... Steph, Kyrie, Dame, Harden...?

The Raptors can't offer a supermax. They can offer him 5 years, of course, and the slightly higher annual raises that go with that, but they can't offer him the supermax like the Spurs would have been able to do.
Kawhi has already left tens of millions on the table by forcing his way out of San Antonio. I truly don't think money is going to decide anything here. (Other than the obvious, which is that a team in pursuit of him has to offer the most it can offer within the rules.) |

As players overall? Or defenders?
One thing to consider is that it's a regular season award. I know some players tend to ramp it up in the playoffs while coasting on defense in the regular season.
I think the voting for 1st team is valid. |

Not to be greedy but are we really looking at BOTH? I don't see a scenario where a S&T works for the Celtics, so I am assuming we try with the Raptors?
Anyone look at what that would cost? Maybe the raptors can take KCP via S&T as well? _________________ "Friends can come and go, but banners hang forever" -KOBE |

$109,000,000 (Salary Cap) * 30% = $32,700,000 (Max Contract)
$32,700,000 (Max Contract) -$100,000 = $32,600,000
$32,600,000 / 1.25 = $26,080,000 (Needed Outgoing salary) |

@Bard207, I don't know why but your posts remind me of a character from the movie, The Big Short.
You're like our very own cap-space and trade Ben Rickert.
That's a compliment btw. |

You can sign Kyrie (or any max free agent) with cap space and then do a trade for Kawhi (if he were willing to opt in to the final year of his current deal), and that Kawhi trade would actually cost less in terms of needed outgoing salary than a move for Anthony Davis would cost. And since Kawhi can bolt for nothing, you would think that the Raptors would be happy to get something of quality.
Not saying this outcome is particularly likely, just saying it's a possibility. |
