Seven players worthy of Max contracts (if healthy): Kyrie, Klay, Butler, Durant, Kawhi, KAT and Cousins. I wonder how many teams can afford a Max contract next year.

LOL, like half the league, my friend

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/cap/2019/

Sort by "practical cap space". It doesn't include the possibility that teams can dump a bad 2016 contract to open up even more space.

But I'd say keep an eye out for the Knicks, Nets, Mavs, Clips and Sixers. The other teams with cap space are either terrible and/or too small of a market to attract the big fish (yes, the NY teams are awful but it's NY).

Still a long way to go, we should consider contracts teams can trade/stretch, but also players they should re-sign. Brooklyn, for instance, has to deal with D'Angelo and RHJ. So, a lot of things can happen.

But, I agree with the bottom line, it's gonna be us, Sixers and 3-4 other teams going after the big fish. And some of them, like Klay, are likely to stay put. Some will be left empty handed, but LeBron surely give us an edge.

I'm optimistic we can land one of Kawhi, Butler or Cousins (if healthy).

What's going on with Kat? Pretty amazing the Suns took care of Booker already. If anybody, you'd think KAT and Porky gets taken care of. Why do you say disappointed? He doesn't play enough D? For all the grief Okafor gets, does KAT barely edge him defensively or something? LOL! I don't follow the Wolves, I just know he's crazy efficient for someone who launches threes as well. 50/40 territory is KD. KAT did 54/42 last year. Double digit rebounded as well. So what's the deal?

He's a restricted free agent and the Timberwolves will match in a heartbeat so it is a waste of time.

The Deng question is
After signing a Max player (Kawahi, Butler or Klay)

Would we rather have a First round pick in 2019 + another smaller asset

Or

10 million dollars in cap space in an off-season where A LOT of teams will have cap space. As many 10 teams will have a Max cap slot available and as many as 5 teams will have 2 max slots available...

Let's say for argument 10 million gets us maybe the 15th best available player

Based on our likely needs is probably
Best Case
Eric Bledsoe
Vucevic

More Likely
Ariza
Thad Young
Canter

Or a 20s first round pick?

Dump Deng with a future first. Sign Kawhi and Dedmon, sign Rondo for Cap exception

Lonzo/Rondo
Ingram/Svi
Kawhi/Hart
LeBron/Kuzma
Dedmon/Wagner

Is Dedmond worth 10 million and a first round pick?

Yeah KAT is an outstanding player I would sign at 9:01 but its moot because the Timberbulls match

Funny how Kat and Booker are great players, but DLO wasn't..

When all three are bad defensively.

KAT is a great player, Booker is a good one while DLO isnt good or great, its that simple

Actually defense from the center position is 100000x more important than the 1 position and KAt is by far the worst defensive center in the league, yet, since he gets his buckets, its adequate, similar to Devin Booker.

The blind rationale with you guys are crazy... It's so easy to see how good DLO is on offense.

Dlo was never a good defender and KAT isnt the worst defender in the NBA. Dlo put up 15pts on 41% and 32% from three, not even close to Bookers numbers and KAT put up even better number than Booker.

At this point Dlo isnt even on the same level as those two. Dlo would win the most improved player award if he put up Bookers stat line.

Notice how Josh Jackson put up Booker numbers when Booker was injured.

Notice how Brevin KNight put up amazing numbers and got that fat contract with the Suns as well...

DLO has to play pg, booker gets the green light to shoot all day long without any concern of getting pulled.

DLO scored like 7 3 pointers straight vs the raptors last season and still got pulled....

I gotta get my day started but nothing you posted changes the fact that Dlo puts up pretty bad numbers while the other two dont. But maybe Dlo goes crazy and you're right this year but for now I just dont see that happening. Later

Booker isn't a max player yet. Wolves also gave massive contract to Wiggins and they can't get rid of him now. Booker is a great scorer on a terrible team while lacking in other areas.

Blind rationale you say? How about from the team that traded FOR him?

Booker got a Max deal
KAT is getting a Max deal
DLo didn't even get an extention offer from his current team

Not even bitter I'd much rather have LeBron and Kyle Kuzma than DLo

Agreed, if Russell was good he would have had a extension by now, at least KAT has the excuse that the Wolves are in a dysfunctional position right now with Butler.
