DeMarcus Cousins stats over last 14 Games
12.4 PPG
8.4 REB
2.4 AST
1.1 STL
0.5 BLK
44.6% Field Goal
38% Three Pointer (on 5.6 attempts)
75% Free Throw
23.6 MPG
that doesn't scream 'done', that screams 'get him as a backup center'. |
I thought we had the "best backup center in the NBA" and therefore, didn't need a backup center?
|
We do, and we can still sign Cousins while AD is injured.
I've made posts about this before. The people that keep screaming they need a "big body just in case" and were yelling for Dedmon...
Cousins would be the best of the players you could get for that.
While AD is injured and you're starting Kuzma, Cousins can come off the bench, and he would not be in Harrell's way because he stretches the floor and shoots threes primarily. So their styles wouldn't run into each other. Combine that with both their abilities to rebound and they'd be solid off the bench at least till AD comes back.
After that if Cousins is continuing to play well you can still play him and Harrell both off the bench and move Kuzma to the backup 3. At that point its down to THT and Wes to see who should get minutes at the backup 2, as Caruso has backup 1 on lockdown for the time being.
Good news as well, Clippers can't sign Cousins

Cousins will now clear waivers at 5PM EST. on Thursday.
He can be claimed by any team except for the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks (hard cap restrictions).
The Lakers can claim him but it would restrict them from signing a 15th player. |
Pretty sure it would only restrict them from signing a 15th player for a few more weeks since Cook's deal wasn't fully guaranteed. _________________ Under New Management |

Any athlete that has been away from the game as long as Collison has is a no go imo. It’s hard enough when you are in the grind...for someone who wasn’t mentally into it, just can’t trust or offer a roster spot. |

Probably true. The mental part is my concern. |

Damian Jones would be an interesting body off the bench. Really has come down to earth after being somewhat productive on the Warriors. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Damian Jones isn’t the answer guys, we already have another raw big man in Kostas, what we need is a vet big man who can make a difference until AD comes back. |

Cousins scored 28 points against Dallas in January. That might be more than Gasol scored in the month of January. |

The problem is what big can make a difference? The difference with Kostas is Jones has the strong body to compete against other bigs. VS Cacok he has more height and length. Not saying he is the answer and I don't expect the Lakers to pick him up but it is slim pickings out there. |

Wanted the Lakers to draft Damian Jones. But if the Lakers signed him, curb your expectations accordingly. No one is the "savior". _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

So just browsing through RealGM and they don’t think it will take much for the Lakers to get Whiteside, someone said Kostas and a 2nd round pick, it will be interesting to see if Kings fans think it won’t take much for the Lakers to get him. |

Sure, if it actually happened, it would be tampering.
Normally, the NBA doesn't do tampering investigations until the team that was allegedly tampered with lodges a protest. So if Washington doesn't press it, nothing will happen. In cases like this, it's unlikely that the NBA would be able to uncover evidence of tampering.
That's why most tampering fines are for NBA executives making a public comment. The private, behind-the-scences stuff usually has no paper trail. |

Cousins would be interesting, but there are many red flags about a guy that is unhappy on almost every team he's on. |

Kings aren’t even playing Whiteside in the Nets game, maybe a trade is close and there holding him out. |

I wish we could wait until buyout, but for the sake of saving Lebron and AD...we need the help.
I don’t think it would take much honestly. Yes, Sacramento can be petty towards the Lakers but I think they will take anything over a buyout.
If Pelinka has a better option that would be awesome too, but the key is we can’t continue to run our stars into the ground just because we don’t stop anyone at the rim. |

I don’t think past rivarly will get in the way of the Kings dumping Whiteside the moment they have the chance, this isn’t like the Bogdan Bogdanovic situation were the Kings simply knew they weren’t going to help the Lakers out. |
