Looks like Sixers are gonna be aggressive with trades if they hire MDA, they have players we can use our basketball guru Jim suggested Josh Richardson, he will be a pretty nice addition but not sure what we have that will entice the Sixers.

Unsure if they'll trade or let him go, but for the MLE for a year, definitely.

I would think the Suns want to maximize Ayton next season. Having Baynes of the bench at the price he may command seems a bit much for the usually stingy Sarver.

Agreed. Having a physical guy in the paint that can shoot 3s goes far. This is where Markieff's real value is, especially with switching.

Baynes isn't a switch type, but he can at least keep AD at 4 and provide spacing. Think that's important for a bench type.

Though I think we need perimeter help, a guy like Baynes basically mixes in the work that Jav/Dwight/Mook do into one player. Obviously not as athletic as Jav/Dwight, but his shooting prowess would open the floor up so much.

Agreed with the perimeter help. Market is thin and the cost of wings is just out of reach, depending on skill level.

Would have loved Harkless for last night's game.

Does Harkless accept exception?

do we have the MLE? are we paying taxes?

Didn't brush up on the CBA lately, but my recent understanding is there's an MLE for teams over the cap.

I think LAL is $10mil over the cap right now, but still under the luxury tax.

if they hire MDA (was there even a rumor that'll happen?) i'm pretty sure first thing MDA does will be trade Embiid for a bunch of guards, and then make Simmons play the Boris Diaw role back in the Suns days.

Good point haha, Sixers franchise will be haunted for decades if they trade Embiid and knowing how they like making bad decisions like getting rid of Butler, yeah it wouldn’t shock me to see it.

FA 2021 is based on the idea that there's roughly 1 max space leftover with AD re-signing and LeBron still on board.

MLE in 2020 for 1 year contract helps ensure that.

playing devil's advocate here, if AD leaves for another team, what do we do with those money? punt to 2021 or sign someone else, who else are there worth signing with the money AD left?

You're right.

But that ends the championship run until 2021.

I'm trying to remember, but were Tatum/Brown the result of that Nets trade?

I mean good lord.

Yes, the Billy King screwup boosted the heck out of the Boston rebuild.

Walker and Hayward were signed as free agents while Brown, Tatum and Smart were lottery picks.

They have many young guys on a weak bench. Since Boston won't have any more high picks and will have only their own picks in the future (2021 and onward), it will be interesting to see if Ainge can take the team to another level without high draft picks. His drafting outside the lottery and player development of non-lottery talent has been disappointing.

sorry i meant when does the MLE calculation happen?

i think we will have to trade off success in 2021 vs space for FA 2021
personally, i would take success in 2021 because FA2021 handcuffs us too much (unless we get really lucky).

the reason is that no matter what, lbj will likely be gone after 2022.
so that slot will open up anyway.
it may not be giannis because there will be other pg/sg to go after

If we got this far with LeBron and AD under the cap, LAL would likely do the same with LeBron and Giannis; team construction and all.

Giannis strikes me as a worse fit than AD. I just imagine that if things go so bad, AD were to leave...i don't know what makes this roster appealing to him.

It's LeBron and the current regular season MVP.

Getting franchise players first always matters. Imagine Giannis has issues when it gets to the brick wall in the playoffs... and LeBron is the #2?

I know Giannis is supposed to be the MVP, but I'm not a fan of his game tbh. And him and Lebron doesn't strike me as a good fit against good teams. Against lowly teams sure, we're gonna get tons of highlights, but not against good defensive teams for sure

I’m not high on Gianis either. For teams like Warriors, Miami, Houston sure he’s the perfect fit, because those teams have plenty of reliable outside shooters to make space for him in the paint. Can you imaging him and LeBron in the same lineup? teams will just pack the paint and dare them to shoot.

Probably nothing.

He has value. I have a hard time seeing us trading him though, im not fully opposed.

Green + Kuzma + #28 can maybe get you Dinwiddie.

Schroder prob wouldnt cost that much?

Not sure its enough for Oladipo.

It is not even remotely close to enough to her Victor. Plus Pacers have no need for Kuzma who would be the “prize” in that trade. Sabonis is twice the player Kuz is at PF and TJ Warren at SF. Pacers would not even counter such a ridiculous offer for Victor.

Maybe Dennis S only because OKC wants to start a rebuild and another 1st plus a young Kuz gives them some talent to build with. Dennis won’t be part of their future. But I still feel like they could get a better package than that is they decide to move Dennis.

Saw something about Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson getting back together, might be able to get him on the cheap, obv close with Bron, only 29/30 would be a nice add....

Especially with how the game has evolved, including how refs officiate games, I'll take a more well-rounded player than an elite driver like Giannis.
