Svi shooting as horribly as he started... has already surpassed Melton at 3 pt%
Melton is a good player... but Svi is just getting started.
If we were a trash team and could give Svi 30 minutes... I'm pretty sure he'd be scoring more. |

If we strike out on KD, Kawhi, Klay, Kemba.... is anyone opposed to splitting the $38 mil that we have in cap space to Vucevic (or Cousins) and Tobias Harris.
Give 1 yr/$16 mil to either Vucevic or Cousins
Give 2 yr/$22 mil per year to Harris
Vucevic(Cousins)-McGee
Harris-Kuzma
LeBron-Ariza
Ingram-Hart
Lonzo-Vet
This will allow us to keep cap flexibility for AD the following year. |

I think both will look for long term deals especially at that price. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

Melton's biggest weakness was his 3-point shooting and Svi's greatest strength was his 3 point shooting. The mere fact that they are even shooting in the the same realm says something about Melton.
Melton's stats since getting consistent minutes the last 5 games.
14.2 ppg, 5.4 apg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 steals, 38% on nearly 5 3's a game.
Melton probably should have been a lottery pick. |

Lots of team with max cap space next year.
Harris and Vucevic would probably get max deals or close.
I think Cousins and someone like Rose, who is having a resurgence, would be doable if we split the 38M. _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant |

Svi got 20 minutes once and scored in double figures... shooting over 50% from three since Luke started giving him regular shift during the last three games.
I'm positive that Svi scores more than 14 points if he was given 30 plus minutes like Melton.
As I said Melton is a good player but one is a point guard and the other is a 3 point specialist.
Svi has also shown flashes of playmaking ability so I think both teams can say they got a good pick in the forties.
My intent isn't to disparage Melton but to defend Svi who has a skill set we need more at this point. |

I still have hopes for Svi, too. Just think Melton is likely to be a better NBA player. That said, Svi could fill an important role for us if he pans out. |

I think many tend to be biased if someone looks like Joe Ingles vs. Barrett or Nassir Little.
How many here would have stuck with Steve Nash?
Who would have taken Dwight over Dirk?
Don't get me wrong, athleticism is important but our team is stocked with athletes.
We need some skill to go with the athleticism. |

To have the cap space available to sign Davis as a free agent in summer 2020, what do you have for Ingram's salary? |

KD not signing with us (although I think he will if we do not win a championship) is not the end of the world. Magic has many fall back plans. I am sure one of them is to sign a high end FA (not a max). He can then follow up and trade for AD. Our available cap space (not spending the 38 for KD) will be crucial in getting this trade done, since we can take in more $ than what we send out. Davis is never going to hit free agency with NO and they will trade him. If Davis wants to be a Laker, this will happen. No matter what happens, we will be in great shape and a real threat to win a championship next year (if we aren't already). GO LAKERS! |

I think they will cost more than that.
Maybe 20m/year for Vuc, and 28-30m for Tobias. We won't have that kind of cap space. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I wanted him with Mo's pick, then when we got to Bonga's pick, I was so happy we would get Melton. But... _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Sean deveney of sporting news says the Lakers are also interested in Wayne Ellington and Terrence Ross.

Quote: | Among them, a source told Sporting News, is another former Laker — Heat guard Wayne Ellington, a 3-point specialist who would help LA’s struggles from the 3-point arc. Ellington is on a one-year deal with the Heat, and he has the right to veto a trade.
But as Miami’s season continues to look fruitless, Ellington’s name has come up more in trade talks. The Heat would be open to moving Ellington to a playoff team for a first-round pick, according to sources. He has averaged 10.0 points and is making 38.1 percent of his 3-pointers.
Another target is Magic forward Terrence Ross, but with the 27-year-old averaging 14.1 points on a career-best 56.8 true shooting percentage, his value might be out of the Lakers’ range.
There has been talk, too, about the Lakers adding a big man, though that remains unlikely. The team did sign Tyson Chandler last month, and there aren’t many other candidates on the market. Another Orlandan, Nikola Vucevic, has been rumored, but increasingly, it looks like the Magic will keep him as they develop rookie Mo Bamba. |

Both are potentially good additions. They will help the spacing and shooting. |

I think same boat as KCP b/c he would lose his Early Bird rights if traded.
Ellington is a nice shooter but I want defense. Give me Ariza or bust. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I think we could end up adding both Ariza and one of the aforementioned shooters. I wouldn't mind giving up. Ext years first l, because we might need that extra cap room any way, and hopefully it's an extremely low pick. |
