This team plays with a sort of arrogance that they will just catch up later. Maybe they will, but if they don't, the lack of urgency is just stunning.

Yup, we're totally going to miss those particular wins. Don't forget dropping 2 to Orlando also.

Also lost to Wash, Memphis and ATL with James. Let's not overlook all the bad losses.

My goodness. You are on the hunt for LBJ, huh?

Losing to 3 tanking teams, yes, 1 with LBJ on board, was unacceptable.

Still think we make the playoffs. We gonna make a run after the ASB and grab the 7th seed.

I also see us grabbing 7th seed. Clippers will fall and Sac’s schedule is only slightly easier than ours. That gets us into 8th. We face some heavy hitters in the last week or so. If the seeding at the top is finalized, I can see them resting their starters

LeBron's Lakers not favored to make playoffs at SuperBook

Quote:
The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook reopened odds Friday on a proposition bet if the Lakers will make the playoffs, with both the "yes" and "no" at equal -110 odds.

Still way early to say the Lakers can't make the playoffs.

Need to wait until the end of march before we have a good idea about their playoff chances.

Back in 2012-2013 we were 25-29 by the All-Star break and Kobe went full god mode (playing 48mpg and busting his achilles in the process) for us to squeeze into the top 8.

We went on a 20-8 run and made it to the playoffs, finishing the season 45-37.

Is totally do-able going to the playoffs this year. We are behind the Clippers and the Kings and we still play against them 3 times (2 against LAC and 1 against SAC), if I recall correctly.

Let's see how hard Luke, LeBron and this team wants to go to the post-season. Getting in there should be enough incentive for the kids.

I bet we'd miss the playoffs this season even if healthy. I thought maybe by some miracle we squeak in. Could still happen though. Hopefully it does. However, we out the 1st round anyway.

We were 4th seed in the West without LeBron. If he didn’t get hurt we would’ve coasted into the playoffs. If Zo didn’t get hurt we’re likely still in the top 8 as well.

If healthy we’d be in the 4-6 pocket easily.

The 8th seed last year won at least 47 games

So the Lakers need to go 23-3 across their next 26 games for 52 wins

Or the Lakers need to go 19-7 across their next 26 to win 47 games

Any less than either of those things, and we may miss the playoffs, yet again.

Last Games Across the season(potential losses bolded):
Hawks - Loss
Rockets - Win
Pelicans - Loss
Grizzlies - Loss
Pelicans - Win
Bucks - Lost
Suns - Lost
Clippers
Nuggets
Celtics (depends if Kyrie is back)
Bulls
Raptors
Pistons
Knicks
Bucks
Nets
Kings
Wizards
Jazz
Hornets
Pelicans
Thunder
Warriors
Clippers
Jazz
Blazers

So those are 6 hard games(7 depending), and if we lost those, we'd have to win virtually every other game to finish with 48 wins. So we can't afford to "not show up" against a 'lesser' team.

Lost to the Hawks, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Bucks, Suns.

Lakers are now 30-33

Lakers now cannot hope to reach 52 wins

The Lakers now need to go 17-2 across their next 25 to win 47 games
They are 2-5 in their last 7.
They are 5-10 since losing Lonzo
They are 3-7 since the return of LeBron James
They are 2-4 since the All-Star Break

Yep.....

The eighth seed in 2017 and 2016 won 41 games so all this is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that we win 3-4 more games than the clippers, kings, and spurs.

So you're banking on

1) Sacramento to go 10-15 while The Clippers go 8-15 (both would have to happen)

2) San Antonio to go 7-18

or

3) Utah to go 8-17?

Because that is what would have to happen. AND we'd still need to go on our run.

Have you guys checked the Kings schedule in the next 4 games?

GS
OKC
Bucks
Minny

There is absolutely no way they can win any of those games, maybe the Wolves game but Minny is gonna try to make a run to the playoffs.. so that’s gonna be a tough game for them, at this point Clippers need to drop some games for us to gain ground, Kings are gonna be dropping games unless there coach turns them into world beaters over night.

I’ll bet on the kings actually winning 2 of the 4. When you get into this point of the schedule, it’s like the dog days for some top teams.

For example, I can see GSW not being completely into it first game out of the break and Sac plays them tough.

Lakers are going to need at least 45 wins imo.

No, that's not the point. The point is you can't base your argument on last year's playoff number or any other number in the past. We don't know what other teams are going to do (except for the clippers who clearly would want to tank). Sac can go 13-12 the rest of the year and we would need to go 15-10 to get the eighth seed. So it really comes down to how well sac, spurs, and Utah play down the stretch in comparison to us, nothing else. There could be injuries, etc.

Kerr is usually very good at making his team get ready during long layoffs, the only time GS is gonna be discontent during games is when they have the #1 seed locked in.

Come on. We all want the Lakers to be in the playoffs again. Who gives a crap if we are going to get the (bleep) kicked out of us by the Warriors?
