Hands down Durant. You'd have the best two players in the NBA and weaken the best team in the NBA. I don't care if you don't like the guy, this is too easy.
Assuming Kawhi is able to return to form (something we have no evidence of yet), isn't this basically like asking what's better: winning $500 in the MegaMillions or the Powerball? Either way, you're set.
down the stretch... no team could raise a pimple our our asses
but if we get Kawhi, I'd be equally as happy/excited. We'd be the team to take out KD/Curry and the Warriors.
LeBron is not stupid. He knows what winning a ring or 2 in LA means for his legacy. He knows he needs another guy and I think he knows he can recruit one. Between KD, Kwahi, Butler, and to a lesser extent Klay, I think he feels confident he can elevate these young kids this year, put on an entertaining and successful season (maybe in the WCF) and then go to a max player next summer (I think he'll go hard for KD) and tell them to come be the final piece and then it becomes their team.
I'm sorry, can someone please give me a reason that you'd turn down Durant if you're the Lakers? I'm trying to think of a logical one and having an issue.
Durant, but I don't see him coming here. He's trying to pass Lebron up and he'd still get crap for following Lebron to LA. I think he's going to the Knicks.

KD to the Knicks would be great for the NBA. Weakens GS too. The League will have like 7 real contenders with no one clearly ahead of the pack like in recent years.
GS
Lakers
Houston
Boston
Philly
NY
Toronto (maybe, depends on Kawhi)

Trying to pass LeBron up, so he joins a franchise that's been a perennial laughing stock for nearly the last two decades?
I don't think anyone can try to guess what motivates Durant. Who is to say that he cares about whether or not he passes LeBron? He'll probably tie LeBron next season.
KD will go down as a top-20 player in NBA history. The guy is a career 27.2ppg, simply the 5th best in NBA, after Jordan, Wilt, Baylor and LeBron. And won't turn 30 until September. _________________ ....
Kawhi is 2 years younger with another year of mileage subtracted.
In a vacuum it is close because Kawhi should be able to give us more quality years and is perhaps a better 2 way player while KD is easily the better offensive player and no slouch on defense either.
Outside of a vacuum it has to be KD for the shear fact that it makes us better while weakening our biggest competition. His impact is two fold while Kawhi is only one.
I would love to have either of them (even though KD is very unlikable and seems like a front runner with a fragile ego) but I don't think KD is likely at all.
KD since it weakens a direct division foe and title contender, plus he doesn't know what he's really worth since he keeps taking paycuts. If he just takes less than $30 million, Lakers don't even need to stretch Deng to get him.
