Rondo is an elite playmaker and has been an elite playmaker in the NBA for 13 years. He also was a good defensive player.
He hasn't lost his playmaking ability but seems to be step slower in defense.
And from reading it seems that his training methods can teach young Lonzo a lot.
Especially the part of watching film and dissecting a defense.

Seeing how animated Rondo is on the bench is so refreshing. I've always gotten the impression that he was aloof and "above it all", but the dude is always engaged whether he's on the court or not. He's quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Rondo has exceeded what I expected. Once Ball gets back, I think it is going to be a lot of fun.

Media trying to create conflict between the two meanwhile all the Lakers fans I know can’t wait to see them both out there.

I recall Lonzo saying he had a film session with Rondo and stating it was the best he has ever had.

I've always had that vibe with Rondo too but the stories at training camp quickly showed that to be untrue. He went out of his way to let Lonzo know he's there for whatever he needs and also said something along the lines of not only teaching these young guys but learning from them. Rondo is going to be huge for us this season

I can’t see any reason why Laker fans shouldn’t like Rondo the player he can make a big Impact for us similar to GP.

In the Kings game for the Lance Stephenson jump ball, Rondo was yelling instructions from the bench on where the Lakers players should stand.

He’s smart, in great condition, he’s super engaged...really there isn’t much not to like about him. He’s not going to score you many points, but I’m a fan.

Not a fan tbh, he's a great troll, but his real impact on the game is limited, not sure why we should start him at 31 yo over your number 2 pick but hey, whatever Lebron wants.

Once Lonzo is available to play he will start and Rondo will be the PG in the second-unit.

I'd say start Rondo at the start of the season, and Lonzo with the 2nd unit, until Zo is 200% in Dec.

Yup. Rondo's been great. If he's accepting the 2nd unit role, Hart, Lanc, Beas and Zu/Moe gonna feast on the other's team 2nd unit, cut layup, cut layup, open 3s

I like the cut scene where Rondo ran into the Clippers bench and Doc, then apologized profusely by fixing Doc's jacket. It was so funny!!!

Can’t believe people can’t see the difference Rondo is making for this team, it’s like people were happy with guys like Ennis and Huertas running the 2nd unit...

His leadership alone is gonna rub off on everyone on the team.

Luke Walton won't reveal if he has decided who will start in the backcourt for the season opener. But he said Rajon Rondo and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was the starting backcourt in practice today.

Rajon Rondo says the Lakers might be the best organization he’s ever played for, and that the team’s young core watches more film than he’s ever seen.

Rondo Impressed by Lakers' Commitment to Filmwork

by Joey Ramirez
Digital Reporter

Back when he was a rookie, flights on the team plane meant games of spades for Luke Walton.

He’d sit at a table with Karl Malone, Gary Payton and Rick Fox, hoping for strong hands and folding, by his own admission, “a lot.”

Fourteen years later, the head coach’s players have spent their air time differently.........

Love it. Until now, I had never even considered Rondo being a former Celtic as an additional subplot when the two teams square off. I had only considered LeBron vs Kyrie.

Man, playing Boston on Christmas would've been so much more interesting to me than playing the Warriors.

Had no idea I would actually like Rajon Rondo.
