Sign DeMarcus Cousins? (Nope. Golden State for 1 yr, $5.3 million. For the love of god. pg 27)

Did he do that with the Pelicans?

Maybe, we should wait for Cousins to play 1 full season with a team before claiming he's changed. I'm not just talking about locker room presence anyway. I don't think he fits the style of play that Luke is trying to build here at all.

Cousins seemed to get along great with Anthony Davis and there was no 'locker room' issue stories with the Pelicans at all. And they were on a bit of a run beating Houston the night Cousins got hurt, interestingly enough, on a hustle play.

Happy to be proven wrong if he joins and buys into a team concept, but I see him as a big-man version of Melo. Someone who will pout and disrupt a team in more ways than one with empty stats that don't contribute enough to help the team win.

I'm not gonna act like I follow the Pelicans closely, but didn't they get better because of the Mirotic trade? I don't think its fair to say the absence of Cousins improved the team.

I don't want him on the Lakers because he's coming off a serious and possibly career changing injury. He may never be the same player again. Not worth the risk imo.

I'm a little torn on the attitude thing. I think he does have a bit of (bleep) in him. He reminds of Rasheed Wallace, maybe he just needs to be in a good, stable situation.

He did have major problems in Sacramento, but at the same time the front office was incompetent. I mean how many bad trades, bad draft picks, etc. did he put up with. Then when they had a good coach that Cousins liked in Mike Malone they fired him in the beginning of the season, while Cousins was sick in the hospital. I'm not defending his behavior, but he had to put up with some BS over there.

His value was dubious before the injury and he will never be the same again. Do not want unless it's on a very cheap and short term deal.

How is he going to defend on switches with a stitched achilles?

Isn't that what everybody seems to demand of the Lakers' current centers?

And aren't the Lakers targeting character?

If they want a veteran center, I'd probably prefer a healthy Lopez to a gimpy malcontent. Or just go sink-or-swim with the young guys for a year knowing that the team's emphasis is small ball and that 2019 has another big FA target.

Again why do we keep talking about Kawhi like he will automatically be the same player? The man averages 58 games per season and we just assume he will be in tip top shape and CP3 and Boogie will be crippled!

As I pointed out in my earlier posts... I don't have any problem admitting Kawhi's the best player of the bunch... but I'm baffled why you think he's immune from injury... there's no precedent in medical science that dictates that a player who you like better will be less likely to be hurt than a player who you dislike.

Oh... yes because he is a great perimeter defender and he will be 27 years old... that same fateful number where Brian Jones, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin all died... Kawhi will not get hurt so we should trade away half our team... and sign him to the max... on the other hand... CP3/IT/Boogie are built from inferior genetic materials and will self destruct because they have less wingspan or foot speed.

Is there any scientific thought involved? Or do people just believe if you like a player enough they will stay healthy... and if you dislike people they will get hurt?

This guy makes teams worse when he is healthy.

Does that mean he makes teams better when he's sick? Can't we just send him some expired yogurt and rake in the W's ?

Shelburne: Belief around the league that Cousins wants to use the Lakers as leverage to get overpaid by Pelicans.

The Pelicans probably win more than one game vs the Warriors if they have him however.

Wanting or not wanting Cousins on this team is just the purest litmus test there is of whether i (bleep) with you or not. I feel like everyone I've ever seen on here who knows what they're talking about is anti-Cousins. And the rest...

Cousins is interested in the team with the most cap space as he recovers from a major possible career altering injury? Well that is a shocker.

A cynic!

Correct though. Cousins would sign in Antarctica for big money while he rehabs arguably the worst injury a pro athlete can have, the dreaded achilles.

Lakers can't talk about building locker room culture, and then bring that guy in. I would think he would be like Plan Q., if that high.
