Not a knock on Svi but he is not quite ready for prime time. js
Here's an idea... why not run a few plays for him with actual playmakers instead of makeshift ones who are afraid he'll take their minutes?
Do you think Lance actually looks for anyone but himself?
Even though he got stuffed at the rim twice... he hustled and the team was plus seven and came back during his shift.
Philly uses Shamet regularly and he's growing more and more effective as we speak. We throw Svi in random places for 5 minutes at a time with sometimes days between appearances and some of you act like this is a fair test of his ability.
The man shot 44% from three playing for the second hardest strength of schedule school last season. Wichita State, Shamet's school was around 50th last year.
So, if Philly which is a playoff contender like us, is able to use their sharpshooting prospect 20 minutes a game... why can't we?
Because Luke is either afraid, or pressured by the front office to play Lance instead.
In fairness, to Lance... he's been very good at times this season... but unless they have him locked up on minimum contracts for the next three years... there is no point developing him because he probably won't be here next year.
We must develop Svi, unless we can trade Beasley or Lance for a Korver type somehow.

I said this in the game thread as well: How does he get a rhythm though and develop as a rookie player when he’s not getting minutes with the main squad, he’s not playing down in the G league and they just throw him in whenever they don’t know what else to do. I seriously dislike the way we “develop” our players.

He’s too slow to play in the NBA. He looks like he’s running in quick sand when he’s on the court.
As far as rhythm, how is he going to earn minutes if he can’t even hit 3s in garbage time against the other teams garbage players?

I’ll be fine with him going to the G league. He’s a rookie. If he’s not quite ready to go with us that’s fine. My point is that I don’t think throwing him out randomly and intermittently is getting it done in terms of his development.
This game was disgraceful and this team has real issues. Svi Mykhailiuk is the least of our problems at the moment IMO
Jimmer Fredette would be more useful for us now, Svi looks like another Sasha Vujacic clone and I don’t think he will make 2 Important FTs in the Finals like Sasha did, won’t mind giving his spot to a guy like Jodie Meeks.
I'd like to see him develop in the G league before making any assessments about his future as a prospect.
Pretty much agree with this. His one game with South Bay was pretty damn ugly, even with a burst of scoring in the third quarter of that game he was still shooting like crap. He needs some time to get acclimated to the faster conditions. I’d like to see the Lakers having him split time with the SB Lakers so he can get his confidence back up. He’s just not going to get the volume of shots on the actual Lakers.
I think the 3 pointer will come back. Right now he's still adjusting to the speed/length of closeouts at the NBA level. He's a born shooter and that won't go away. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Svi hit 4 three pointers in a row earlier today in his GLeague game today. Was fun to watch
Excellent. That’s the kind of game Svi needs to get his groove going again.
We should have had Svi down in the G-League for most of this season if Luke is barely going to give him any minutes, him sitting on the bench and not getting any G-League burn is a travesty. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
