Didnt watch much G League games. Is there one thing he can work hard on to make an impact on a good team? Or is he still a few years away regardless if he adds a thing or two this off season?

Was very good to start the season, after minor injuries he couldn't get back to rhythm.

I'm looking forward to see him in summer league

It's way too early to figure out what Bonga is gonna be. He's still 19. He needs 2-3 more years. Siakam had 2 years of college and was drafted at age 22. Hopefully he spends most of next year as a development player again.

Bonga may end up getting traded for cap space anyway.

LA shut down his workouts, paid $1.5 million and gave a high 2nd to make certain they got him (even though they had the pick eight spots later). Miles Simon joked at last summer league that he had to play Bonga if he wanted to keep his job.

LA drafted Wagner because Magic liked him.

I think of the two, Moe is a cap casualty before Bonga. I've wondered if they need space if they might offer Moe to Cleveland (old college coach) for #26 and take a stash.

I don't watch the G-league games but I've been impressed with the highlight clips that people have been posting here. Bonga is still only 19, that's the same age as Garland/White... 1 year younger than Culver... 2 years younger than Hunter... 3 years younger than Clarke.

What are everyone's thoughts about which provides a higher level of quality in competition... the G-League or the NCAA? Just wondering since I've watched so few games of either over the past couple of years.

Hope Bonga makes big strides so this team feels like a Lakers team instead of band of mercenaries. Need draft picks to pop to make something lasting. Mo, Bonga and Kuz are now currently my favorite Lakers.

The G-league from my pov. Players are stronger and quicker, better overall depth of athletes every game and quicker tempo. Will actually learn the NBA style of play.

Probably strength and muscle is needed most. Like BI he would get bumped off on his drives to the basket at times.

Unlike BI he has a very good floater with either hand so he did not need to consistently finish at the rim or stop for short jumpers like BI would.

I think his defense would be a pleasant surprise to most here.

At least we'll have someone to look forward to in summer league.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised with Bonga

we know he can d.
can he do it without fouling out?
can he at least bring the ball up and give it to someone else?
can he shoot the 3 decently?
if he can do those 3, he could be useful this year.

Last time I looked he was still a g-league level player. Terrible
pick for the Lakers given they had a couple of better alternatives.

It just seems they want to surprise everyone each year, but that's not
necessarily a good thing all the time.

Yep. G-League MVP until he can mature his body.

If these highlights are any indication, he's making a lot of progress. In fact, if he was in this year's draft, I might take him with the 4th pick lol.

At least Bonga doesn’t shoot like a 6 year old.

Easily better than prime Alonzo Mourning. Better than Shaq?

He who laughs last... but I’ll laugh with you for now. Say what you will, BI, RJ, and Zion is a Blue Devil three headed movie monster that we will see in the playoffs down the road. Letting BI go was a necessary sacrifice for Space Jam.

But the point still stands... Bonga has a better jumpshot, is just as quick with the kind of handles Zo has, has length and defensive mobility along the perimeter, has a good feel for rebounding, and can run the break with the same pace that Zo can.

I would have, but since Bonga might also be dealt, no need to waste energy.

Yup - just watched Bonga highlights.

Nice stroke - Def something to work with there. I wonder where he actually would go in this year's draft.

In about 2 years, some team out there is going to be wondering how the hell they got this dude literally for free. That said, if Bonga is the difference between Kawhi or Jimmy and only having 23M in cap, then ship his ass out.

I hope you are right, but right now, I take Zo. I think Zo really needs to assert himself in NO.
