I think it makes sense for both teams. Miami is $20mil over the cap, and getting Deng will help slightly and allow them to shed Whiteside off their books. For us, we will only have incremental salary of like $9m or so to get Whiteside who can still be a monster on D when properly motivated.

Emphatic no. He can't play in today's NBA.

Lonzo
Kawhi
PG
Randle
Whiteside

Ingram
Lopez (cheap contract)
KCP (cheap contract)

That is a solid defensive team?

Jules/Hassan are a terrible fit offensively. None can stretch the floor.

Hassan can't stay in games b/c he can't switch and cover players in space.

I considered this possibility after Cousins' injury. Even then I knew he took nights off but he would at least be an improvement over Lopez and I wasn't sure if we would get any FAs. Now he look useless and may impossible to move during the season. However, I am sure some team will take him this summer for minimum assets exchanged.

Say no to Whiteside. He is a dinosaur in terms of today’s game and he has issues he can’t get over...no need to have that hovering around the team. Just not worth the trouble.

I have a feeling Whiteside will be traded to the Clippers(if DJ opts out and walks) or Dallas if they can’t come to terms with Cousins.

- Can't score, can't pass. That means if he gets doubled, he loses the ball
- Terrible fit next to Jules (not so terrible with Kuz)
- Clear locker room trouble
- 28 years old, has one great season in 8 years

In what universe did you dupe the Spurs into a package for Kawhi that didn't center around BI? And you think Lopez and KCP are coming back to be backups? You're lost in all types of ways.

Nah, I’m good. He’s making way too much money and showed he can’t compete with embiid, doesn’t have a good attitude and snubbed us, he can go be overpaid somewhere else.

I'd do the deal if you included a heart for Whiteside. I have no tolerance for these types.

His mentality right now is there's a bank in every NBA city. He got paid and forgot to work harder.

Yep.

Whiteside is exactly the reason why the league is going away from "traditional" bigs, whether it's post or PnR or even a midrange shot in the halfcourt. Randle can stay on the floor because he can pass and grab and go off defensive boards, on offense; then elite switchability on D. Whiteside? 1 position, both ends.

Whiteside is the guy that can help you get 2 to 5 wins during the regular season because he's still a premier swat threat. After that? Nu uh. Lopez is more valuable.

going away from traditional bigs without extreme post game and defense.

You can deal with getting abused most nights vs the pick and roll. if your big man is killing on the block. whiteside does not have enough moves/counters down low to pull that off. in addition you need to become a solid passer from the big man spot too. because at some point they will start doubling you.
