Here's one that always gets me in trouble:
How about we base child support on what it actually would cost to raise a child instead of forcing the wealthier parent to subsidize the other, often someone they really don't like. If they want the child to live according to the lifestyle of the wealthier parent, assuming everything else is equal, just give the primary parent custody. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

That's why you pay child support, you don't physically doing the day to day of child support aka no primary custody... as far as $ amount, tough to decide man. How much does parenting cost? |

Parenting costs a lot, especially if you're now a single parent, who works and has to pay for child care with. |

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-08-20/women-only-science-programs-discrimination-complaints
Quote: | The U.S. Department of Education has opened more than two dozen investigations into universities across the nation — UC Berkeley, UCLA and USC as well as Yale, Princeton and Rice — that offer female-only scholarships, awards, professional development workshops and even science and engineering camps for middle and high school girls. Sex discrimination in educational programs is banned under Title IX, a federal law that applies to all schools, both public and private, that receive federal funding.
A new study released Tuesday found that 84% of about 220 universities offer single-gender scholarships, many of them in STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and math. That practice is permitted under Title IX only if the “overall effect” of scholarships is equitable. The study, by a Maryland-based nonprofit advocating gender equity on college campuses, showed the majority of campus awards lopsidedly benefited women. |

I know what you are talking about. It is tough seeing one parent paying an enormous amount of child support, and noticing the other parent seems to have found a large stream of money to spend on themselves. The problem is the court uses "formulas" and has no way to evaluate how the funds are spent. The court is acting under the umbrella of good intentions by trying to ensure the child has a similar lifestyle with both parents and as close to pre divorce as possible.
Personally I was fortunate in getting equal (50/50) custody of my daughter and my ex wife has a high income....therefore my support payments are very reasonable. Also, my ex spouse was smart enough to know if she did not push it, she could swindle far more out of me than the court mandated. Right or wrong, I still give her additional money every month. She calls it borrowing, but she never pays me back. |
