He got checked in an Olds or a Caprice. Love it. What is this, Kiki? Is it a series? Is it a The Wire influenced show or somethin? Is guy portraying the founder of the Crips? Sans any background whatsoever, that's what came to mind with this, but Iono. Where should I look for this? Looks interesting.

RE: Denzel, I saw that movie where he played kind of a low-level lawyer who gets into an ethical snafu w/ an inmate who threatens to kill him. Good movie, but Sedale Threatt, Jr is in it briefly and, OMMFG. Sedale II is a MIRRRRROR image of his father. I know Sedale, Sr, got into trouble over child support. Last I heard, Sedale Jr and Sr were lost to each other. It's a shame if that's still the case. I've never seen an adult child who looks that much like his biological father, anyway. Reminds me of Odom and his moocher father on the Kardassian show he was in. It was really sad how his dad would do nothing but ask him for money. Uch. And he was nothing of a father, but that's all Lamar had. He had so much loss and he was keeping his father who did zero but ask him for money at the start of every phone call or convo. Lest that was scripted, but I doubt it. Why would they have to? That kinda thing in sports is common w/ all races, btw. Kids everywhere with variable contact w/ their dads. Another one is Jalen Rose. His biological father was the 1st pick in the NBA Draft and kids at school would ask him why he was poor and why his dad left his family. That's why Jalen detested Grant Hill, who seemingly had a Huxtable family experience. Grant was lucky enough and Jalen got the shaft.

Nick Cage's new movie looks good."Unbearable Weight Massive talent"

I have loved a few of his pics but him playing himself in this looks funny.

I just recently saw the entire flick "Peggy Sue Got Married". I've seen a minute or two of it here and there whenever it was on telly since 86 and knew Jim Carrey and Nick and KT were in it, but that's mostly it. It's yet another early Cage flick where he really was still trying to act and he was good in it. He effected a higher pitched voice just to make the character a little different than his other flicks. I've seen Valley Girl, of course, and the 1984 movie Birdy feat. Nick and Matt Modine. He was also great in both of those. And he was in Ridgemont High for 2 seconds, but was supposed to have the Brad part, but lost the role to Judge R because he was still 17 at the time and thus was still a minor on work hour restrictions. So Nicolas Coppola started off wanting to Daniel Day Lewis all of his roles. I know he won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, but more often than not, I think he mailed in more contemporary roles. There are fans of his who dispute that, but I don't get the same notion from his earliest vs his more recent roles that he's still trying the hardest he can to create different, indelible characters.

What the hell is that? I know of "The Flamingo Kid". I think it was Depp's debut. Or Mickey Rourke. No, Depp. No, Grieco.

npz, Pink Flamingos is one of those before/after movies. You won't be the same after the experience.

Oh, it's John Waters. Ok, a 70s shocksploitation. Only two movies of his I've seen are Cry-Baby and Serial Mom, neither of which I'm absolutely certain suffices at giving a good sense of his true milieu. I might wanna keep it that way having read the wiki page on this movie, haha.

I finally watched Full Metal Jacket which was included when I asked for Vietnam war movie recommendations. Between the 3 that I watched - Apocalypse Now, FMJ, and Platoon - I found this one the most interesting but also maybe the least enjoyable.

The way I viewed it was that the bootcamp half of the movie showed the military's need to make people fit into specific molds and those that wouldn't fit would be broken like Leonard aka "Gomer Pyle". None of this is really a novel concept or all that deep but the payoff was in the second half when you see all the ones who "fit" and made it through simply were being made to fit into a broken system and were losing their humanity in the process. The way they became cruel, sadistic, or even apathetic to the horrors they saw and took part in really showed how much humanity was stripped away from them.

The new snake eyes GI joe kinda just ok, could’ve been made so much better. The story line was boring, the fight scenes… c’mon! U got Iko Uwais and Andrew Koji… gotta be ong bak level spectacular. The visual effects/background of the Japanese castle was nice tho. Not sure why they shave Koji’s beard, went from a badass to herb looking lol. Missed potential kinda film

I find all three of those movies to be both harrowing and beautiful (and surprisingly, so is Good Morning Vietnam, which is a comedy only to suck you into the tragedy). Kubric really made two completely standalone short movies and tied them together to make a larger point

Ironically, the Venn diagram circle of jackass lovers probably falls mostly inside the circle of horse dewormer paste eaters. Or Vice versa perhaps.

If they're fans over age 30, it's a near perfect circle. But the Jacka$s crew are surprisingly popular with the under 25 set.

The Tomorrow War: Remember when movies knew when to end? Where did that $200M budget go? The best thing about it was to spur me to rewatch its many superior influences afterwards.

I rewatched The Shawshank Redemption for the umpteenth time. It ranks very high on my greatest movies ever ratings.

Normally I look at Tim Robbins as a comedy actor. In Shawshank, he played the innocent, plotting, survivor to the hilt. Even in the end he never lost his composure.

Watched I Spit On Your Grave starring Sarah Butler today. If you're squeamish I don't recommend it. The deaths are gory. Payback is a beach.

A movie that will piss you off if you're Black. Karen Starring Taryn Manning as Karen. It's fictionalized reality.

If you want to see another Tim Robbins serious role, check out Arlington Road. I think it came out around '99. He and Jeff Bridges were both great.

Looking forward to watching it. I have HBO MAX & YouTube. I have a poor memory. Drop a reminder on the 22nd.

He’s also amazing in Mystic River. To be honest, he’s much more a dramatic actor than a comedy one.
