Now I know why these QAnon folks like to believe in conspiracy theories, this is the movie they think they're in with Nicholas Cage.

Deliverance or House of 1000 Corpses are more accurate.
Both of those movies you reference are too good for QAn*n people whereas the National Treasure movies are sufficiently mediocre for QAn*n people. JMO. _________________ Under New Management

Shia may be a crazy SOB. But, in general, I enjoy his acting.

Movie.
1/2 way through. Giving me Training Day vibes except from the criminal side.
Edit: And the second 1/2 is a bit disappointing. Thought it was gonna be a great movie. It's just alright. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
Rafiki (2018) is streaming on Criterion until the end of the month and is very much worth a quick watch (only 82 minutes) if you're in need of a sweet romance. _________________ Under New Management
Some Came Running (1958) - this feels like a bridge, a hint of New Hollywood in a blindingly colorful, epic Cinemascope melodrama about Eisenhower era white American ennui and hypocrisy. Sinatra and Dean Martin give arguably career best performances despite frequently leaving the set in bored disgust (for Vegas, natch) where "pansy" Vincente Minnelli "directed decor more than his actors" according to Shirley Maclaine who sneaks up and becomes the heart of this surprisingly cold-eyed, mean, gorgeous movie about broken people's aspirations to love.
Scorsese has championed the film, Godard paid homage in Le Mepris, and it has its passionate devotees along with a number of reviews that praise the performances while knocking the hangout movie's languorous pace and disjointed rhythm. I think it's absolutely worth watching to see if it bores you outside of the masterful closing sequence or if it sings to you like a drunken Shirley belting "After You've Gone" in a soul-destroying, dingy Terre Haute nightclub:
Quote:
“You don't understand a word of what I said. You don't understand the story.”
“No, I don't, but that don't mean I don't like it. I don't understand you neither, but that don't mean I don't like you. I love you.”
Streaming on HBOMax for a few more days and probably available to rent, as well. It's so damn good and Minnelli is a god. _________________ Under New Management
The much lauded 2019/20/21 film Martin Eden is finally being distributed stateside, which you can stream on Mubi or via virtual cinema on the Kino Lorber website. _________________ Under New Management

RIP Cicely Tyson, aged 96. Good run for an excellent actress and human. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Watched Little Things, Denzel Washington. Didn't generate any Denzel. It's slow moving and uninteresting. Has anyone seen it? If so what did you think of it? Denzel looked to have a gut. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Nothing like giving Denzel no lines while focusing your movie's climax on Rami Malek and Jared Leto competing for this year's supporting actor Razzie. And did they just stuff a pillow down Leto's shirt to make his character "fat"?
And the editing was offensive. _________________ Under New Management

Good lord was it ever.
Leto went to the Johnny Depp School of Acting where you load up on Halloween store disguises for every role. Malek is somehow worse and woefully miscast. _________________ 14-5-3-12

That's a bummer with that cast. _________________ KOBE

The Little Things is completely average.
I'm shocked the actors involved thought that script was worth their time. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”
