They finally got him right. Bernthal was born to play this role. I find myself woofing like Frank to psyche myself up now. .

Finally a great Marvel/Netflix show. Felt like everything since the first season of DD has been mediocre to bad. Watched all episodes yesterday in one sitting. It was pretty damn amazing.

Im five episodes in and I love it so far. I didn't watch Daredevil, so this is my first time seeing Bernthal as the Punisher...and he is perfect.

I watched the whole season 1 of DD, but I stopped after the first episodes of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. They were so dissapointing.
Somehow The Punisher is able to reel me in and keep me interested. I try to watch 2 episode at a time to stretch my enjoyment for a few more days.

really? Jessica Jones was amazing.. probably one of the best villains of all time.

Luke Cage.. Iron Fist.. not great.

But I think Jessica Jones might be better than DareDevil

As a guy that read both the comics for ages as a teenager on up, I have to say the Punisher captured the spirit of the comic better. Not by much mind you. Daredevil did a hell of a job.

Jonathan Bernthal though. Wow.

Was skeptical, but this thread has convinced me to give it a go. Hopefully won't disappoint.

Bernthal is to Frank Castle as Downey Jr. is to Tony Stark.

He’s that good in his role.

Are you implying Dolph Lundgren was bad?

Thanks for the reply. I am starting it up tonight. I liked Daredevil a lot. Liked Luke Cage a little, but not enough to finish it. So far I am loving The Punisher. And it just got better because Persian Mom from 24 is back!

I'm not gonna lie I actually liked Dolph Lundgren Punisher better than the Tom Jane and Ray Stevenson ones...

Forgive my ignorance but which season of Daredevil should I watch to get my Punisher fix? Is it even worth watching? I have no idea. Up till now I haven't watched any of the marvel netflix shows.

Spoilers:

Quote:
Can someone tell me what is going on with the timeline?

They talk about The Punishers reign of terror from a year ago. Is that his cartel massacre from the first episode?
How does the timeline match up with Daredevil?
Is there any back story from the movies or Daredevil that add useful info to the Netflix Punisher story?

Answers

Quote:

1) It's from when he shows up in the second season of Daredevil and starts getting revenge on those who killed his family

2) It's about a year from Daredevil season 2 I need to brush up how long between Daredevil season 2 and Defenders. If I had to guess Punisher season 1 happens just after or concurrently with Defenders

EDIT: It happens within a few months after Defenders
https://hiddenremote.com/2017/11/21/mcu-timeline-does-punisher-take-place/

3) There is lots of character development for characters appearing in Punisher that happened in other series. Karen Page was first introduced in Daredevil Season 1 and has been in season 2 and Defenders. Punisher made his first appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil and we learned why he'd rather kill than see criminals get arrested. Detective Mahoney and Turk are more minor characters but they appear on every other Marvel Netflix show.
Micro, was mentioned in Agents of SHIELD once and assisted in helping Skye since they were both hackers.

I've been binge watching Punisher. Midway through episode 10.
I like the lead actor. I like how they have mature themes and characters with depth. No one dimensional good or bad guys.

The only awkward part is, they have to portray Punisher as a person who does more good than harm in 2017 America.
And that's tough to do with a gun-wielding murderous vigilante who has open contempt for the law.
Kinda reminds me of Dexter. Both have an inch to murder. Except Dexter was nature (psychopath from birth a.k.a. genetic) and Punisher is nurture (traumatic event in his life).
