what is caruso's contract status?
do we have to renounce him or trade him for the max contract?
sounds like no? |

from my understanding he is already signed through next year and his salary is only 500K more than the empty roster spot hold we'd be charged to the cap space so no need to trade/waive him as he can very easily be our first PG off the bench.
Not sure of the rules but I think it would be smart to give him an early extension to lock him up to a team friendly contract before he plays up his value further in the coming season _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

Did the Lakers already somehow re-sign him? He was originally signed for only two years on a two way contract, and that was up at the end of last season. |

According to this site he's signed through next season. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

Caruso could be the spark we need off the bench this coming year. He could be very valuable. |

He should be our Matt Dellavedova; scrappy player 6-10 ppg, 3-4 assists off the bench. Scrappy, can score, but willing distributor. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Scrappy, sneaky athletic, solid fundamentals, plays the game the right way? |

Agree with all of the above. Scrappy on defense, solid fundamentals, and as April showed, he's starting to become dangerous shooting the ball and finding the hoop. |

It's sad our FO will probably view Rondo >>> Caruso. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I know this is hyperbole (with the arrows), but I wonder how most view Alex.
Reading the last couple of pages, there seems to be some overrating going on imo. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that the Lakers might be strapped for cash and need Alex on the cheap. So we need him to do well and we're psyching ourselves out hoping for the best?
If we have to rely Alex playing more than 15 mins I'd be worried. But then again, he might prove me wrong. |

Yeah, I would have him as a 12-15mpg guy. We'd need someone like George Hill to come for the minimum after a buyout or something (assuming we sign a max FA). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Did you watch the end of last season? He’s a legit nba caliber point guard on a minimum deal. Would be awful to let him walk |

We use the "did you see Yute X and Y in that 10 game sample size..."
I know Caruso doesn't have YUTE-styled hair, but he had some nice small sample sizes too. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

He had a good streak.
No one's saying let him walk.
Are you saying he's a legit starter? |

Legit backup PG. And he didn’t just barely get here right now. He’s been playing at a high level since summer league 2 years ago. |

He had a good SL.
He had a shaky rookie season (as one would expect).
He had a OK 2nd season due to limited early minutes and an insane ~50% 3pt shooting.
He is an unproven backup. Hopefully we add another backup just in case. They can fight for that role. |

I really like Caruso as our primary backup PG, but we can't run the risk that he's not ready to be a regular rotation guy just yet. I would feel a lot more comfortable if we had a Collison, or 3rd minimum PG so we could slowly bring him along during the season. |

If Caruso stays and does remotely well he will have a good chance at becoming a local spokesman for Bosley Medical.
Get those endorsements, son! |

I just like the way AC plays. Solid and scrappy on defense, his fundamentals are sound, puts out tons of effort and he's shown lately, but briefly, that he can be very effective on offense as well, which was his shortcoming prior to breaking out late last season. I like him based on good defense and solid fundamentals. But if we only judge him on offensive output then yes, he's got a spotty track record and we need to see a larger sample.
Backup PG, keep him in the rotation, look to see how much consistency he shows in each aspect of his game, and how well his game fits in with the rest of our roster. |
