God stuff from Kuz on the Players Tribune.
And please put the "he doesn't like LeBron stuff to rest.". He just really had a huge admiration for Kobe is all.
The Player’s Tribune shows me Kuz actually understood what it means to be a Laker. I’m glad he won a chip. I’m glad he got to know Kobe. And I’m glad he got paid. I want to see us being wrong about him next year and for the years to come. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant

Good luck in DC, bro!
this was really good, very touching. i wish him nothing but the best in DC. who knows, maybe a reunion is in order in the future.
OK, this is silly.
It reminds me of back when people accused Phil Jackson of being "anti-Kobe" because he'd say nice things about Shaq after a game and not mention Kobe at the same time.
The problem with your comparison is that Phil would intentionally snub Kobe as part of his divisive motivate Kobe strategy. Phil not mentioning Kobe after a game was never an oversight…
yup, he gets what it means to be a laker. either you get it or you don't. either you appreciate the honor or you don't. simple as that.
i think the trade is good for kuz. he will definitely have more opportunities to shine with much less of a spotlight on him. i expect good things for him in DC. i actually hope he does not get traded to the nets. it would be "more of the same" if he did, quite honestly. he got his chip, let him "be the man" a bit more now.
I really wish he wrote that last year. I feel like some fans would have treated him differently. Some people really thought he never worked on his game. Best of luck to him in DC. Guys like him come back home at the end of their careers. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!

What's funny is Kuz is more of a real Laker than any player currently playing for the Lakers.
Kuz was beloved by the fan base before LeBron and his Bronsexuals came to town.
The trade for AD happened and then did you not only have the Bronsexuals who hated Kuz but the Zo and BI stans started to pounce when they got traded and he got to stay.
That's when the irrational hate began.
Beyond classy of him to write that after how he was treated by this fan base.
It would not surprise me in the least if Kuz finds his way back in the purple and gold once LeBron has retired. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

I mean it's ok to appreciate Kuz while being able to appreciate LeBron, AD, etc.
It doesn't have to be a versus thing 😆 _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!!

unfortunately it seems like drafting and winning with a couple guys is over for us. There is no down side to winning but that is a bit of a bummer.
Bucks, suns, GSW are the only contenders with drafted talent.
But it could be worse.
Look at the clippers. they traded for 1 elite guy who seemingly has a degenerative leg issue who you cant rely on to be there. Another top 30 player who choked on FT's and even with all of their failing they dont have any brought up through the system guys.
hope Kuz finds happiness in DC. if not, then he has no one but himself to blame, not us fans. the Buss ownership and front office loved Kuz, they tried so hard to make him that 3rd star alongside of LeBron and AD. it was Kuz who's never improved one bit from his rookie season. he's a 5 year vet and still does not have a calling card when it comes to what he brings to the game. he's wildly inconsistent on both ends.

So much of this post is false. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!
I'm not watching the game but it looks like they're being hyperbolic and trying to make Kuz look much worse imo.. He made 3 3's and hit a few ft's since starting 0-5 and has only 1 point less then Green who is shooting 4-13.. Did Kuz have his hand in causing that percentage as well?
I'm glad we did the trade but seems a bit over the top with the hate.
Now link the three 3's he hit and the great defense he played on Porter and Wood and the beautiful bounce pass he hit Beal with for a layup.
You really bumped this dead thread to talk (bleep) about a player who's not even a Laker anymore and after 1 quarter of the first preseason game.
The hate is pathetic as hell.
Did he touch a sore spot?
FWIW, I agree. Send this thread to the General Basketball Discussion graveyard. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

MJST.. he’s right, no need to hate on Kuzma, he loved playing for the Lakers and unfortunately he just didn’t fit in with the Lakers especially after the Lakers got Anthony Davis, he’s gonna have a opportunity to show off his skills and talent on a team who is gonna probably be fighting for 1 of the last playoff spots in the EC, good luck to Kuzma in D.C.
