It’s crazy just how dominant LeBron’s playoff run was this past season at 35 years old. This guy averaged 27.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg, and 8.8 apg throughout the playoffs with an absurd effective field goal percentage of 61.8% (more efficient than Shaquille O’Neal was in any of his playoff runs). And that doesn’t capture how great he was on defense (making perfect backline rotations against Houston after the trap, shutting down Murray late in games, being the primary assignment against Butler in Game 6). He honestly had a better playoff run at 35 years of age (and a million miles) than the vast majority of NBA legends have ever had in their prime.
The best part for Lakers fans is that, barring a major injury, even if he declines in the next few years he will still likely be able to produce at least at the level that most superstars can in the playoffs. And coupled with AD’s ascendence, that means the Lakers can definitely win some more titles.
I'm glad he's here, and grateful.. But I don't get the "give him his respect or due" narratives.. All he gets is praise from ESPN.. He's called the King.. He's been considered the best player in the league for about a decade. Talking heads compare him to Jordan. They even put him over Kobe, which I don't agree with.
What respect isn't he getting?
Sure he gets praise NOW because he won a championship, but before the season started everyone was calling him washed up, Clippers are better, Kawahi is better, came here to make movies, etc...he proved everyone WRONG and delivered a title in just his 2nd year. He also recruited AD and makes our franchise MUCH more appealing to future free agents.
BTW, where would this franchise be right now without Lebron? We'd be the Knicks of the west. He single handedly saved this franchise by coming here without a 2nd star when no one else wanted to sign here.

He'd never gotten that much rest prior to the playoffs before in his career. The lockdown was almost like a blessing in disguise for the Lakers. We'll see how much his production will drop off in next year's playoff due to not having extended rest. I don't expect him to repeat his performance but I hope that I'm dead wrong.
There's definitely not going to be any pressure on him to win during the regular season since the Lakers are so loaded right now. It's up to him if he wants to load manage prior to the playoffs so that he could have the stamina to "carry" the Lakers to another championship. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!

I guess this is what's been holding up the AD signing. Klutch Sports wanted to extend Lebron first. I guess now AD is gonna do the 4 year extension to match Lebron's contract? Seems legit. Congrats Lebron! Well deserved!! _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!

BOOM.
Looks like he's going to retire a Laker. Now will include him in my prayers at church every week to make sure he doesn't suffer any serious injuries, because this is gonna be GOOD.
If Pelinka can keep reloading around LBJ and AD like this, Holy Mother of Heaven.
Lakers proving they take care of their stars always its amazing
It's worth it though. If you think about it, he makes so much money for Laker organization (and the league) in the long by making them title contender again. 40M+ at age 39 doesn't seem too bad. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!

So AD will get that 4 plus. Nothing else but to go all in. Lebron will eventually be defeated by Father Time but I’m glad the we take care of our superstars at all cost.
Sorry if anyone here hates this contract. I certainly don’t. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant
Interesting that this is announced today. I was under the impression they had been preparing for the 2021 offseason based on our one year signings. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

Wow. I didn't see that coming. Congrats Lebron! _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
The League was probably hoping he returns to the Cavs and plays his final ASG in CLE. Forget that noise. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant

I'm happy. Laker's take care of their superstars, this is how it works with organizations. Take care of your accomplished people, they take care of you.
Some people turn people (assets) into draft picks (assets). Here's looking at you leprechaun. Some people recruit the best and take care of them. Here's looking at you Lakers.
