I'd like it if MVP awards were nuanced discussions about how a player fits into a certain system in a way that is unique or special. Or how they are doing things that are unique and special. Or that their individual greatness is what made them the mvp, rather than they were in the right system with the right complement of players.
Maybe my gripe is by way of how people use the MVP award in arguments of individual players when it has been heavily weighted by team success. |
The MVP is just another media popularity award, it hasn’t meant much in a long time. I couldn’t even tell you who won it last season. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Has it ever had much merit? Media has voted on it since the 80s. Before that the players voted. Not sure how serious the players back then took it. Obviously current players don't care about voting for the all stars.
It definitely means a lot in some ways. Even if it doesn't have much merit. The media controls narratives on players legacies. And obviously there is money to be made by being an MVP. Not just from marketing, but in some instances your actual NBA salary may be higher because you won an MVP. |

Lebron would either be the MVP favorite or a coin toss away in soooooo many years with his current narrative (stats, age, miles, record, etc.). But in typical Lebron fashion, he ran into a buzz saw. The path of least resistance is to just give the award to the player whose on-court value is the highest in the league. That's Giannis. |

Fully expecting Waiters to make his debut tomorrow in Bron’s place
Rondo - AC
AB - KCP - Waiters
DG - Kuzma
AD - Morris
McGee - Howard
Bron deserves a rest, he’s had a big few games _________________ #18 next... |

Your attitude toward the regular season MVP wouldn't have anything to do with how many Kawhi's won, would it? |

I stopped caring about MVPs when Nash started scooping them up as if he was actually the best player in the game. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Would rather have Lebron play tomorrow, get the win to further secure the #1 seed and then rest him @ Utah.
If he played tomorrow, he would have had 2.5 days rest, then 2 days, then 3 days, then 3 days. |

If the Lakers end the season with the best record, should LeGM get the Executive of the Year award?
Or do we just do "LeGM" when things are going badly? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

LeGM gets co-executive of the year with Pelinka if they win the championship imo. The roster is still one that is limited and relies HEAVILY on LBJ and AD being and playing like top 5 players. |

It's probably small consolation but I guess the match against the Bucks would have been more exhausting for Lebron. Not only was Lebron having to physically stop Giannis, he went physically against Giannis and the Bucks as well. Whereas against the Clippers he more picked the Clippers defense apart mentally rather than physically hammering himself against them.
I dunno, seemed like the perfect opportunity to rest to me |

Fellas I know you can injure yourself slipping on a banana peel on the sidewalk. Wario is such (bleep) btw!
But all it takes is another team’s Hart/AvBrad to go balls to the (pelvic)wall and take out your star for multiple games. I’m starting to have #Gro’inConcerns we testing our luck with the b-ball gawds. |

Unfortunately he also knows how to get injured in game. Still, no one knows his body better than he does, if he thinks that he should play I would never argue. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
