This isn't on LeBron at all.

For me, LeBron became a Laker today.
15 years we basically spent our days defending Kobe’s legacy against the world because ESPN and the media anointed him over Kobe.

But now, none of that matters. I truly look at LeBron as a Laker now. And of course it’s because of Kobe 😊

Lebron's legacy will now and forever be linked to Kobe because of this. I have no doubt Bron will make Kobe proud.

Who knows when Kyrie will pop up again. Not a jab. I would be MIA for a while if I were him.

I was disappointed with the Lakers after their Philly showing. Especially after the Celtics game, I thought they were dragging ass and cheating the game a bit. I didn't watch the second half of the Sixers game because of this.

I want to see Lebron lead this team to punching way above their weight and going all in this year.

Love you Bron, you did not disappoint with your statement. .

I told ya'll how he was going to look at this. In his mind, L.A., the Lakers, Kobe's Legacy is on his shoulders. You better support him L.A. Bron needs Laker nation support more than any of our greats.

James’ heartfelt comments are obviously coming from a place of pain. His emotional statements reveal how much respect he has for Kobe the Man and for the family. That is amazing to see from strictly a human standpoint.

I think some of you need to temper your expectations of James being able to carry the weight of the city, Laker legacy and a magical championship ending.

The chances of winning didn’t suddenly increase. We cant expect James or the team to suddenly be more focused, intense, shooting percentages to increase, or able to play more mins. The team may be more “together” for a while. But then the realities of trades, tired legs and roster deficiencies will be right where they were a week ago.

I want a storybook ending and a championship run as much as any fan. And I’ll be watching and rooting for it. I hope James, Davis and the rest can deliver. But heaping pressure to win on his shoulders is not going to change their likelihood of winning it all.

As popular as lebron was before the Lakers, he would always be remembered as a laker if he wins a championship here. The heat years were probably forgotten already,

This has to have Lebron totally freaked out. He passes Kobe in all time scoring in a 20 point loss, then Kobe dies.

He knows what he's has to do...

He has to bleed purple and gold. He has to be willing to die for this team. Championship or die. Period.

Yes, I'm using the word "die" figuratively.

Watch him play in honor of Kobe
I feel we are about to see something very special

I can’t believe his girl was with him when the helicopter went down
That news hit me even harder, if that was even possible

Stop with this freaking nonsense. THIS IS NOT EVEN ABOUT BASKETBALL.

And all you're doing is setting LeBron, AD, and the team up for unbearable criticism by making it about that. STOP. You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Kobe WAS basketball. He lived it and shared it with us all.
Maybe you feel it’s nonsense. I disagree completely.
Sports unites us. It can heal us. It’s certainly brought me some of the most joyful moments of my entire life..
I get that you’re in pain. We all are, man. I cried at least 10 times today.
I don’t think anyone is setting LeBron or the team we love up for unbearable criticisms. They’re gonna channel the kind of spirit Kobe embodied and make us all proud, whether they win or lose this season.

How are we supposed to heal if we can’t put all the love we had for Kobe behind our guys right now. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from on this one. Cause I don’t feel ashamed at all about feeling that way.

Kobe would absolutely want this team to reach for the stars

No, that's not what I said or what I responded to at all. Look at these comments:

"There is literally no other acceptable outcome...Same goes for AD. You wanted to be a Laker? Now show us."

"He knows what he [LeBron] has to do...Championship or die. Period."

^That is absurd. And yes, it certainly does set this team up for unfathomable criticism if they don't win the title. It's just dumb to look at it that way and it's not fair to them. It's not fair to put that kind of pressure on this team, including LeBron and AD. Just let these guys play. Let them channel their grief and give it everything they have. But if they don't win it all, don't bring out the pitchforks and treat it as some sort of indictment against them that they're not cut out to be Lakers, don't really honor Kobe's legacy, or some other nonsense. By this logic, I guess the 2003 Lakers failed to honor Chick since they didn't win the title that year. See how dumb that sounds? The team is going to use Kobe's death as a source of motivation, obviously, but that's a VERY different thing from what is being communicated in those comments I quoted.

And that "You wanted to be a Laker? Show us" crap is just condescending as ever. Like, dude, AD doesn't even know who you are lol. Stop it.

I didn't read this thread at all so far but the fact that this ridiculous line had to be typed out is enough for me to not enter the this toxicity.

From his post, I think that LeBron feels that it's his responsability to follow Kobe's legacy and win a championship this year for Kobe. I think that this tragedy has changed LeBron's mindset to a MUST WIN one.

I've been wearing my Lebron Lakers shirt all week. Also seeing a LOT of Lebron Lakers jerseys and shirts around Los Angeles, especially this week. It's wild to see how quickly Bron has become an icon in Los Angeles.

I think it's long been time for you to go somewhere and (bleep) yourself, hard, and never come back here.

People are in grief, and it's not surprising they project their feelings onto Lebron and others. It's a weird situation when something like this happens to a celebrity that a lot of people feel they know, but don't really know.

This is especially true because the young age that Kobe died at means he has a lot of fans who have never experienced a meaningful person dying on a personal level. The older people -- who have seen parents, partners, friends, and siblings die -- most likely react to this in a different way.

I don't believe in making grief a spectator sport. As far as I'm concern, it's not my business how Lebron or anyone else reacts to this. I don't consider how the Lakers play from this point forward any kind of referendum on how they feel about Kobe.

A horrible tragedy had occurred. I figure everyone should be allowed to deal with it as they need to. There is no need for a scorecard about how anyone -- be in LG posters, NBA players or anyone else -- reacts.

Well said, both you you.

Can we just not be Captain Downer today? Let LBJ have a chance before already dismissing it.

For me it's not a "win a ring or you failed Kobe."

It's about putting the Mamba Mentality out there.

Give it your all.

Leave it all out there so you won't regret giving 100%.

Leave no stone unturned.

Prepare like this is the last chance you'll get.

Whether that leads to a ring or not this year is not necessarily the be all. But if you play like you gave everything like Kobe did, then you truly honor Kobe's legacy.
