Exactly. People who go to a Jimmy Carr show know exactly what they are getting; extremely edgy comedy with a wink. The people who hear of the joke second hand and go on the attack because of it are the problem, not the joke itself; you aren't the audience for the joke, so stick to the comedy that makes you comfortable rather than try to force comedy into your personal comfort zone.

I've never watched Jimmy Carr. But I'm a Jeselnik fan.
I'm just telling you that, so you know I can appreciate that type of humor.

But I think I disagree with you here. If a person hears a joke second hand and is offended (even with the wink). And complains, protests, or even encourages platforms or advertisers to part ways with the comedian. I think that's fair game. Just as fair as the comedian telling the joke in the first place.

I think comedians need tougher skins if they are going to let that bother them. They'll never make everybody happy, It's part of the job.

Trump unindicted co-conspirator.

I've been resisting the urge to spam this thread with my thoughts on Gaza.
It is tough man.

One thing I will say though. When you look at the casualty numbers in Gaza. We've been getting the same numbers for a long time now.

And I strongly suspect the main reason why those numbers haven't changed is because the record keepers for that stuff are dead and/or rotting in a cell.

The world. Including the US. Will look back on this one day. And wonder, how did we let this happen.

We’re looking at it now and demanding for it to stop, as evidence as what’s going on am with universities right now. The powers that be just don’t care

With the passage of the bill giving Israel offensive weapons (to continue the genocide) and banning Tik Tok. I'm just hoping Biden has the internal poll numbers to support this.

Cause it really has pissed off my younger and more progressive circle. But I'll continue to remind them how much worse Trump is.

At least Ukraine is getting the support they need. It probably wouldn't have happened if it was separated from Israel aid and the Tik Tok ban.

I understand why you say that. It has been for decades now. Rashid Khalidi's The Hundred Years' War on Palestine makes that point.

But even Khalidi and his peers acknowledge. The Overton window has changed in the past 1/2 year.

I will say I'm surprised by the colleges that are politically active on this subject. USC, Pomona College in Southern California. I guess for USC it was the valedictorian that wasn't allowed to speak which was the spark for the protests to ignite.

I'm not so sure it has. It may make America uncomfortable to see people dying but that's all they want, for the war to end. Most Americans couldn't give a !@#$ if Palestinians continue to live like prisoners in their own land. They are just one of many "thems".

What the last 6 months has done more than anything is shine a light on things that people didn’t have a great grasp on. Now, collectively we see true horrors of what has been going on and what the ultimate goal is. People aren’t getting arrested protesting and speaking out because they just don’t want to see it, they want Palestinians to be able to live their lives and have freedom.

What hangs over all this is.
Netanyahu, leaders in his administration, and unfortunately even his political rivals all would prefer Trump to win this year. Trump would give Bibi even more leeway to commit the genocide. (In exchange for those condos Kushner brought up.)
LINK

So Biden can never outflank Trump there.
Additionally, this is costing him votes among the left and the youth.

Thank goodness Republicans have shot themselves in the foot in terms of women's reproductive rights. I think that will be the saving grace for Biden in this upcoming election.

Also, I feel disgusted with myself because I'm talking about Gaza genocide and women's reproductive rights in such a cold, sterile, pragmatic, political way. These topics have a very real human impact that merits empathy.

It’s almost like he doesn’t want to get re-elected, but knows that dropping out would be a bad look.

That door swings both ways. Frees Biden to have Trump killed and save us all a lot of headache.

That's some serious snark but on a more serious note, George Conway mirrors to a large degree what I heard, and what to expect this court to say, (though we can't ever trust this court to be honest jurors)--and it is not that they will agree with Trump's insane assertion. He also talks about the door swinging both ways, but his vision is with Trump on both sides of the door.

It should, but we both know it wouldn’t. The Republicans have their own exclusive rules.

This has been a given since January 7th.
