We just need to stay united no matter what. And anytime a more moderate Dem wants to lecture a progressive on pragmatism. Or a progressive wants to lecture a moderate Dem on compassion. We have those debates. But every 2 years we realize, there are bigger fish to fry (GOP).

Yup - Obama said this best IMO in a recent interview.

He was asked about what he would say to those who are more progressive than Joe's agenda. Obama then mentioned how he was frustrated with how in the Dem party a number of progressives refused to vote last election because Hillary was not being progressive enough, so he made the following point:

First, win as a party. Then make a beachhead. Start there, and step, by step, by step you get to where you want. He referenced the ACA as an example...beach-headed it, now its become an expectation for at least pre-existing conditions to be covered and reasonable access to healthcare. Not enough by itself, but its a start.

So Dems, sure, have your different views with how much needs to be done, but have that discussion AFTER you blow the Pubs out cuz guess what? They have nothing you want when theyre in power!

This is why I have always said this is the essence of actually being a Progressive. It's about moving things forward. It's a process. It's not about instant gratification. There's nothing progressive about saying this is what I want and I want it now, or else. You don't get to where you want to be without taking the necessary steps along the way . . . progress . . .

I think it's important note for factual accuracy, the 250 was the mandated limit for the gathering by the state.

I didn't know that. I'm surprised he agreed to do it. And it's kind of weird he's in Minnesota. I guess they think he has a chance.

Amen. And the leaders have done better than the voters in recent history. For example. The biggest Democrat obstacle to the ACA wasn't Sanders and left leaning Democrats. It was Democrats in purple states. Who still hopped aboard even though it eventually cost them their re-elections. Why? Because conservative media effectively portrayed "Obamacare" as socialism. Instead of what it really was. A policy put forward by a Republican years earlier. ACA was "Venezuela country-destroying socialism" to those who drank the Republican cool-aid. In actuality, it's not even what people have in Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

I see some pollsters that are nervous about PA. Mainly because they haven't received any quality state polls lately. They expect them to come in this weekend. It's unclear what Biden's lead true lead is right now. PA could determine the election.

FIFY.

Been saying it for months. My undergrad roommates in Philly are running a poll station. Filling in for the usual elderly poll workers who ran it for many years before COVID.

They said the 8PM deadline on election day is concerning. But they are also optimistic based on the amount of ballots they have for early voting.

I think Biden will win that state. It's the southern states (Georgia, both Carolinas), Maine and Iowa we should keep an eye on. Since that'll most likely determine the Senate.

Biden has a plausible way to win without PA. AZ is one way.

As far as other plausible ways to win without Pennsylvania, leantossup really likes Joe’s chances here in Florida.

@32 I've been saying for quite a while Republicans would, sooner or later, turn on Trump. The worm may have turned. I won't believe it until the last vote is counted and Trump is out of the Oval Office. I have hope. KEEP THE FAITH

It's all good jo.

As we enter the weekend...

keep the faith my fellow Laker brethren of good hearts, minds, and willingness to see this Country fulfill its potential.

Time for a quick revisit, 16 years ago this Man put forth one of the top inspirational speeches for our Country, a snippet that is fitting for now:

Quote:
Yet even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America — there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America. The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and have gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported it. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

-Barack Obama

Let's make this the trifecta year...Laker purple and Gold - CHECK Dodger Blue - CHECK. Joe brings it home for every decent American who wants to see this Nation be the best it can be? CHECK!

GO JOE!

Being a divided nation works for Trump--or so he thinks.

It works for Putin (and other foreign adversaries).

It works for the wealthy elites (in this country).

But it doesn't work for the rest of us. Maybe we'll get it right one day, but for now, Repubs, who hold power and wield it against the common American, need to go...and so do their supporters and enablers.

My guess is by trying to stop or reverse it. Remember, they are merely trying to get rid of the people that threw them out of power in their party so they can take it back over.

Anyone have HBO and seen this? Looks intriguing to me, would like to see more. Wondering if anyone else watched this and what they thought:

Obama, LBJ, and Maverick Carter discussing race and I'm guessing other relevant social and societal issues:
