I watched Harris with Don Lemon. I thought it was more important to see the other part ticket follow up on Biden's Town Hall. Nothing against Maddow at all, but I knew what she'd have to say about Trump.

Don challenged her on a couple of points, and it was good to see more elaboration on where Biden/Harris stands rather than sit watch an obvious dissection of Trump's ninsense.

I'm watching my recording of the Trump Town Hall. Savannah Guthrie is taking Trump apart. For some reason, the entire meeting didn't record. What I saw made Trump look really bad.

I believe his next Town Hall is supposed to be moderated by Kristen Welker. She's had run-ins with Trump. If he shows up she'll have him for dinner.

Mr. Rogers vs. someone's crazy uncle.

Sounds about right

I caught a bit of the Trump Town Hall last night, as I supped with my wife before returning to the other horror show, the Dodgers game. Once again Donald was very opaque about his finances. One moment he denied owing over $400 million in personally-guaranteed debt, the next moment suggesting that he did but it was nothing compared to his empire. He also evaded (once again) disclosing his tax returns (excuse: his lawyers wouldn't let him, Savannah Guthrie should have asked why) or informing the American public on who he owed the money to. To be fair, Guthrie did a pretty good job, the only real revelation was that Donald has a new lie or two.

I'm sure we'll know more after Trump is removed from office. What concerns me isn't Trump's net worth, but rather the financial state of commercial real-estate if a second (or even third) wave of the pandemic hits us. Some of the regional banks are vulnerable, the ones with loan portfolios heavily weighted with commercial mortgage assets. Some of these mortgages are in things Trump doesn't own, such as malls, but other things like office space, hotels and leisure (golf courses for example) are things Donald has acquired with debt. I think Donald is going to be busy on loan workouts the next few years, as he reassures the public that he simply grew tired of his assets. We've seen this movie before, back in the 1990s.

More importantly, I'm concerned that the damage from this pandemic will result in more forced marriages between the supersized money center banks and certain regional banks.

It is important to note, as Trump did Thursday night, that he also has significant assets. Forbes values them at $3.66 billion, enough to make his net worth an estimated $2.5 billion. He is not broke, despite what many critics claim.

Well there are two things that make that assessment questionable:

1. You have to accept Forbes values. We do not know the basis of how they arrived at their valuations. The fair arbiter is market value, something that isn't easy to derive. For example, are they using questionable historical values without adjusting for pandemic impact? Are these values from a potential orderly sale, or do the values take into account a fire sale, in which case sharks smell blood in the water.

2. There is a huge difference between an asset value and cash flow. If cash flow is negative and you have debt to service, then of course you have to renegotiate the loan agreements (workout), surrender some or all of the equity to the lender (think Maloof Vegas stupidity), or engage in a sale of other assets to prevent foreclosure.

Most of Trump's real estate is also not owned by him but rather licensed to use is brand. He takes in a percentage of sales but doesn't own them outright. Unless Forbes has access to those contracts they wouldn't know the specifics.

Trump to California: Drop dead.

NYT: In Rare Move, Trump Administration Rejects California’s Request for Wildfire Relief

Quote:
The Trump administration has rejected California’s request for disaster relief aid for six major wildfires that scorched more than 1.8 million acres in land, destroyed thousands of structures and caused at least three deaths last month.

The rejection of aid late Thursday, a rare move in cases of disasters on the scale of California’s fires, escalated a long-running feud between the Trump administration and California on the issues of climate change and forest management.

California has suffered a series of record-breaking fires since August, when freak lightning storms ignited hundreds of fires. Subsequent fires in September tore through parts of the Sierra Nevada and wine country north of San Francisco.

Judd Deere, a White House spokesman, said President Trump had already come to the state’s assistance when his administration authorized increased funding for debris removal from the fires as well as relief for the August fires.

“The more recent and separate California submission was not supported by the relevant data that States must provide for approval and the President concurred with the FEMA Administrator’s recommendation,” Mr. Deere said.

Trump rejected helping CA because he's mad at Pelosi, Newsom, and the rest of the state who don't like or vote for him.

He's a petty, orange, and imbecilic man.

Among the scores upon scores of horrible qualities that is Donald Trump, any one of which should disqualify him from representing a major political party, he does all in his power to represent ONLY those who like him.

No one should forget and certainly no one should forgive this Republican Party for at least a generation and until they prove they are a party of ALL the people.

This is GOP America now. Where they simultaneously claim victimhood from the democrats, and gleefully screw them over and celebrate it.

Florida Republicans Launch Last-Minute Effort to Shut Down Ballot Drop Boxes

Quote:
Florida’s Republican secretary of state is attempting to shut down ballot drop boxes just days before in-person early voting begins, adding a new roadblock for absentee voters. The move, which is totally unsupported by law, marks another attempt by state GOP officials to suppress the vote. The move may also bolster President Donald Trump’s effort to cast doubt on the validity of absentee ballots after the election.

They have absolutely no legal standing to do this here, but it’s not stopping them from trying.

Apparently Gavin took one for the team and called Trump and stroked his ego and told him he was amazing and begged for help and told him he would publicly thank him:

Just got off phone with @realDonaldTrump who has approved our Major Disaster Declaration request.

Grateful for his quick response
