Steve Bannon testified that Roger Stone was "the access point to Wikileaks" about the dump of the DNC emails.

Lying about being that link (among other things) is what Stone was convicted of. Stone spoke directly to Trump according to other witnesses.

Stone asked for Trump to commute his sentence specifically because Stone did not rat him out.

Pure corruption.

The cover-up worked. Stone had damaging info on Trump. But his lies to Congress protected Trump in the Russia investigation. Now Trump is rewarding Stone's silence in a case that included evidence suggesting Trump himself had committed a crime.

Trump's said on many occasions he can do anything he wants to. Roger Stone is another example of him doing just that. Trump is the most arrogant SOB I've seen in my life and I've been here a loooong time.

Stone sentenced to 40 months did not spend one day in jail.

Wonder if Susan Collins still thinks Trump learned his lesson. I guess he did though: that he can get away with anything.

Anyway, impressive to see Trump to walk the talk when it comes to sentencing reform.

Biden is both the anti-Trump and the antidote to Trump.

That really connected with me. It reminded me how my own parents performed seemingly super human acts to get me and my sister out of a war-torn country and get us to the United States and sacrificed so much all these years.

They should run that ad all the way to the election.

No one here, and this is 99% liberal in case you hadn't noticed, in their wildest dreams ever thought that there'd be another President (even another Republican one) who would knock either Nixon out of the park in terms of corruption and actual criminality or W out of the park in terms of sheer and willful ignorance and IQ. He also hits Ronnie close to the HR area in terms of Evangelical idolatry towards him. Makes you wonder what kind of monster they could drum up who could be of Trump's Godzilla magnitude. Is there a Mothra out there? You ponder to yourself how so many Murcans prefer these types of individuals over Democrats who at least follow the law and are erudite and who read and who don't obstruct justice, etc etc etc. Not only that, but they are lead to believe with full-faith that it's the DEMZ who are the corrupt criminals. Trump cites Obamagate and is too effin dumb to even explain what it is to normal people.

It was President Harding (another scandal-ridden, lovechild-laden, feckless Repub) who resurrected the word normalcy into the lexicon over the accepted "normality". Original Gangsta Warren G (not the 90s rapper): we hear you re: a return to normalcy. However the bleep you wanna say it.

Think of all the charges Republicans unfairly directed at Hillary Clinton, especially in 2016 -- corruption, cronyism, scandal, carelessness on national security. Trump has actually done every single one and more by a hundred fold. And Republicans could care less. It was all a sham, an act. The Republican party allows Trump to completely shred the Constitution, and the rule of law, and national security and they either defend him or stay quiet. They have ZERO principles except acquiring and maintaining their own power so they can corruptly benefit financially by ripping off the government and distribute government handouts to their rich friends.

They are all the things they say they hate about Liberalism. They are disgraceful. All of them.

Minnesota: in the week before the George Floyd demonstrations, 261 new voters registered per day, on average, and 29% were under age 25.

In the week after the demonstrations began, an average of 643 new voters registered each day, 45% of whom were younger than 25.

NYT: After Trump’s Supreme Court Loss, D.A. Moves Closer to Getting Tax Records

Quote:
A day after winning a Supreme Court victory over President Trump, the Manhattan district attorney moved one step closer to obtaining some of the president’s financial records when a lower-court judge acted quickly to hear any final arguments from the president’s lawyers.

The federal judge in Manhattan who first presided over the dispute issued an order on Friday asking the lawyers and the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., to inform him as to whether any further action was needed in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling.

The judge, Victor Marrero, has scheduled a hearing for Thursday, when the president’s lawyers are expected to continue to fight against turning over the records to Mr. Vance.

The order came sooner than expected and seemed to signal that the judge would move swiftly to try to resolve the matter. For nearly a year, Mr. Vance, a Democrat, has been locked in a legal battle with the president over access to the records.

Trump just pulled into his golf club. Remember he cancelled his Saturday NH rally because of "rain" (it's not raining). We just crossed 70,000 a day threshold in new COVID cases and he doesn't even pretend to be working much less care about the victims or even how it looks that he's golfing. And all that's on top of treason over the Russia BountyGate and pardoning his criminal co-conspirator in some of the worst abuse of presidential powers in our history. And he doesn't care. He doesn't care how it looks or what anyone thinks or says about it. He has to lose by a huge electoral and popular vote margin in November or else he'll try to stay on as a permanent Putin-style "president."

In my view it would be justified if President @realDonaldTrump decided to commute Roger Stone's prison sentence.

Mr. Stone is in his 70s and this was a non-violent, first-time offense.

Washington Post, Max Boot: The worst president ever keeps getting worse

Quote:
Three months ago — all the way back on April 5 — I proclaimed Donald Trump the worst president ever. Oh, how innocent I was. Sure, I knew he was bad. But not this bad.

Back then I thought he was barely edging James Buchanan in the annals of presidential ineptitude. But now, with the commutation of Roger Stone’s well-deserved prison sentence and so many other vile acts, he has disgraced the nation’s highest office as no previous occupant has come close to doing.

Think about all that has happened since April 5. That was before security forces attacked peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square so that Trump could stage a bizarre photo-op. Before he pushed to send the armed forces into the streets. Before he embraced “white power” and called Black Lives Matter “a symbol of hate.” Before he vowed to veto the defense authorization bill to prevent the renaming of military bases named after Confederate generals. Before he used the novel coronavirus as an excuse to shut down immigration and threatened to revoke the visas of college students unable to attend classes in the fall. Before he ignored reports that a Russian intelligence unit had placed a bounty on U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Before he moved to pull out of the World Health Organization during the worst pandemic in a century. Before he held rallies that most likely helped to spread the disease. Before he falsely accused MSNBC host and Post columnist Joe Scarborough of murdering a staff member. Before former national security adviser John Bolton revealed that Trump praised China’s prison camps for Uighurs and asked Chinese leader Xi Jinping to help him win reelection.

Quote:
Most of all, that was before the coronavirus had infected more than 3.1 million Americans and claimed the lives of more than 131,000. The pandemic was already a disaster on April 5, but back then we still had “only” 331,000 cases and 9,400 deaths. On April 5, 1,344 new cases were reported. As many were recorded in 30 minutes on Friday, when daily new coronavirus cases climbed to a record-breaking 63,900. In early April it was still possible to imagine that the virus really would abate by the middle of summer. That this hasn’t happened — that the virus is still raging out of control in America while being brought under control in so many other countries — is directly attributable to the epic failure of leadership by a president who infamously proclaimed “I don’t take responsibility at all.”

But what makes Trump the worst president ever is not simply that he is colossally incompetent. It is that he is also thoroughly corrupt.

Quote:
Since his acquittal, he has committed one appalling act of corruption after another.

Trump has purged anyone who dared to testify against him.

Quote:
While seeking vengeance against those who spoke the truth about his ugly machinations, Trump has sought to reward those who broke the law on his behalf.

Quote:
He is not just the worst president ever; he keeps getting worse.

Only we can make it stop in November.
