Quote: | Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Democrats to proceed with caution when it comes to the possibility of impeaching President Donald Trump in the aftermath of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.
In an opinion piece for the Washington Post, Clinton, the former Democratic nominee who ran against Trump in the 2016 presidential race, wrote that Mueller's findings detailed an assault on the U.S. and a "serious crime against the American people" but said it's foolish to believe Democrats only have two choices on how to hold President Donald Trump accountable: immediately impeach or do nothing.
Clinton wrote it wouldn't be wise to rush into impeaching Trump and instead, Democrats in the House should focus on holding "substantive hearings that build on the Mueller report and fill in its gaps" while also focusing on key issues that affect Americans across the country. She suggested that Congress could create a bipartisan commission to examine ways to protect U.S. elections from foreign actors.
Clinton wrote that Mueller's report was a "road map" and, "it’s up to members of both parties to see where that road map leads — to the eventual filing of articles of impeachment, or not."
While urging caution, Clinton said it's important that both Russia and Trump is held accountable for the behavior outlined in Mueller's report, which she called a "warning about the future." She wrote that if that doesn't happen, Russia along with other foreign actors would likely attempt to meddle in future elections.
And when it comes to Trump, Clinton alleged that, "unless he’s held accountable, the president may show even more disregard for the laws of the land and the obligations of his office. He will likely redouble his efforts to advance Putin’s agenda, including rolling back sanctions, weakening NATO and undermining the European Union." |

So Biden's first thing on his agenda after announcing his candidacy is to attend a fundraiser held by Comcast and Blue Cross execs.
Old Joe's going into the is election cycle in very tone deaf fashion. He claims he won't be taking money from lobbyists, but he's going to attend this event held by a company that wants to get rid of net neutrality and a company that is against Medicare for All . . . good luck Joe. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

and here is some good nutrition.. I do wonder if Deutsche would lie for Trump? or could they.
Deutsche Bank Turns Over Trump Financial Docs to NY Attorney General

Quote: | President Donald Trump has been fighting efforts by Congress to obtain various financial records of his, but that hasn’t stopped a major institution from complying with state authorities in New York. Deutsche Bank, known for lending the Trump Organization more than $300 million according to public filings, began giving records to the New York Attorney General’s office, CNN reported.
This comes in response to subpoenas issued by AG Letitia James having to do with specific Trump Organization projects. Already, the bank has started giving James’ office loan documents and emails related to the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC, the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort; the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago; and the Trump’s failed bid at purchasing the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, “a person familiar with the production” told CNN. |

I wasn't aware of that word being associated with any race, so was forced to look up its history and, yes, it is actually a racist term.
In any case, we should avoid name calling in this thread. Instead, please use grown up words. Thank you. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

allowing prisoners to vote became an unexpected, and hotly contested, issue. Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren both told audiences that they’d like to have a “conversation” about that practice. Each added that restoring voting rights for felons after they leave prison remains important to them.
Meanwhile, South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg came out strongly against the notion.
"You lose your freedom and I think during that freedom it does not make sense to have an exception for it the right to vote," Buttigieg said. |

Michigan’s political districts illegally gerrymandered, court rules
Quote: | DETROIT – A three-judge federal panel on Thursday ruled that Michigan Republicans redistricting in 2011 was so partisan that it constituted an illegal gerrymander, and has ordered special elections in several districts in 2020.
“Today, this Court joins the growing chorus of federal courts that have, in recent years, held that partisan gerrymandering is unconstitutional,” according to a ruling written by U.S. District Judge Eric Clay, an appointee of Democratic President Bill Clinton.
“We find that (Michigan’s political districts) violate … First and Fourteenth Amendment rights because it deliberately dilutes the power of their votes by placing them in districts that were intentionally drawn to ensure a particular partisan outcome in each district.”
..
The court found that 27 of those districts in Michigan constitute an illegal gerrymander and ordered Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to hold special elections in 2020 for affected Senate districts.
The Michigan Legislature has until Aug. 1 to redraw the remaining districts, but a special master will be appointed to oversee the process, the judges ruled.

I would be interested in seeing statistics of how many people in the prison population were even registered to vote prior to being convicted. Age, income and education level seem to be an indicator of both voter turnout and those who commit crimes, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that someone serving time in prison may not have ever voted to begin with.
So, then there would have to be some mobilization to get prisoners registered to vote. Who does that without influencing their vote? Do we really want the Arian Brotherhood up in Chino mobilizing to vote for Donald Trump? |

Jeopardy Daily-Double -- Political Trivia for $200:
Answer: 1997.
Question: When was the last time a white male Democrat was elected to the presidency?
So when we talk about "electability," please remember to put that on the ledger.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
(Al Gore lost the electoral college despite winning the popular vote, just like Hillary Clinton.) |

I do apologize. It was said only jokingly in parody because Trump recognizes himself with the racist culture that speaks that way. Similar to a rap song.
I am happy that a female minority of Any race is able to help us remove Trump's power.
His attacks on the Hispanic judge presiding over the Trump University case led me to treat trum with the same cruelty. Which only harmed me.. like I said. He is a danger to our whole world by normalizing his horrible behavior. |

I think Bernie answered that question (or I might have read it somewhere else). Vermont or Maine or both saw not much change in voting after allowing prisoners to vote |

^^Part of rehabilitation should/could be teaching them that voting is a way to feel connected to your world around you. I'm sure they leave almost just as jaded as they were when they arrived. Facing homosexual and bisexual rapes and stabbings etc and forced to join gangs to stay alive
Quite the fruitful rehab course |

Quote: | The North Korean government presented the United States with a bill for $2 million for the hospital care of Otto Warmbier, the American college student who was held as a prisoner by Pyongyang, and insisted the US sign a pledge to pay the bill before releasing him from their custody in 2017, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
The bill was handed to Joseph Yun, the former State Department Special Representative for North Korea who traveled to Pyongyang in June 2017 to bring Warmbier home, the sources told CNN.
Yun, who had orders from President Donald Trump to bring Warmbier home, signed the bill after informing then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson about it. Tillerson then told Trump about the bill, according to the source.
The Trump administration has not paid this bill, a third source familiar with the matter told CNN Thursday,
Earlier this month, at an event attended by Otto Warmbier's family, Pompeo dismissed the idea of the US paying ransom for hostages.
While the North Koreans did not bring up the bill during Trump's summits with Kim Jong Un in Singapore and Vietnam, the source noted that the expectation for this payment could be brought up again.
That's especially true because the ministry of foreign affairs in North Korea is gaining influence at the negotiating table, and they are the ones who handed Yun that bill, |

Knowing Obama, he probably wouldn't endorse in the primary anyway and would wait until the nominee is settled by the voters. That's what he did last time. I doubt anyone would have to ask him to do that. |
