The MAGA kid is going to be on the Today show tomorrow (Savannah Guthrie tweeted out a picture of her and him doing the interview). And right-wing talking head Laura Ingrahm tweeted that Trump invited him to the White House.
If these had been black kids/latino kids/Muslim kids harassing a Native American, acting out, doing rape chants and sexually taunting white girls, they would been thrown in jail by now.
Instead this MAGA brat gets TV interviews, PR firms and a visit to the White House.
This is what white privilege, patriarchy and toxic masculinity look like.

Clearly a lot of people do and for a variety of reasons. An important one being the way this has been handled by the media in regards to spinning the MAGATs as the victims and how and why that actually worked on some people. It's indicative of the climate right now and it matters.

I don't disagree with you in one sense. But once the media and people went down the asinine rabbit hole off "WhatAboutism" and buying into the PR firm's "These are just good boys trying to do the right thing" victim crap, it was inevitable that this one was going to stick around for awhile.
If the media et al hadn't tried to foolishly do the "hey, you got it all wrong" thing, this would have been a non-story by breakfast on Monday morning. But now that the can of worms keeps getting reopened by stunts like Guthrie's, it has opened a whole new line of discussion on it. I think it's important that be noted, because it indicates how big the problem is at the moment.

And some people here apparently. Which gets to the reason I think this relative non-story is now an important one. I have NO qualms with that. My wife and I have worked very hard to help our kids to be kind, thoughtful and respectful people. To see that some of their peers have been raised to be the opposite is infuriating. We can't save these POS MAGATs, but we can make an example of them. And we should.

I think it's the parents that need to be crushed. These youngsters are a product of their environment. Like racism, it's not inbred it's learned.

I just see it like this. These kids' parents and community have completely failed them. The sad consequence of that is that these kids have deep and significant societal failings of their own. Since the significant adults in their lives can't show them the proper way to conduct themselves, it sadly falls upon society to provide them with the lessons they need. Those lessons are not going to be taught by justifying a dynamic where they are told by the media that their behavior was OK because there were others who demonstrated poor behavior of their own, especially when they showed up attire that is inherently antagonistic.
Here's the other aspect that is highly problematic. A religious, all boy school sanctioned a field trip to an event that opposes women's rights. The chaperones were completely fine with the antagonistic attire, and I would guess encouraged it. This school is a non-profit and thus suffers no tax implications for it's donations and endowment. Yet they are clearly engaging in activities that should void their non-profit status.
To me this incident illustrates some pressing issues that are coming to a head right now.

Of course they deserve it. They are mean, hateful, smug, entitled, aggressive perps. And letting them off the hook just teaches them to do it more. It’s odd you can find the black Israelites vile and worthy of recrimination, but not these kids.
