THIS IS NOT THE NBA'S 60 GREATEST OF ALL TIME..
This is TNT's own speculation vote from their group of announcers. Ok, back to the show... |
Yeah I mentioned that a couple pages ago.
The first post on the thread is a bit misleading.
The list is not NBA-sanctioned.
The next NBA-sanctioned list is supposed to be the "75 Greatest," 15 years
from now. |

Magic seems to have the really solid insight as to some of the older players.
Right now Magic seems to be supporting...
Connie Hawkins
'Nique
Bernard King
There also seems to be a consensus between McAdoo and Nique being nominated. |

I'm just disgusted that these guys are being such nostalgic geezers.
I agree that a couple guys got left of the 50 that should have made it.
But it's just common-sense, if the first 50 came from 50 years... Every
10 years should bring roughly 10 more players of that calibur.
It's not like the league's been short on great players the last 10 years
and lacking in talent or something.
Grrr. |

Moving along to centers.... McAdoo is supported by all members of the panel. DA chooses Walt Bellamy as his first overall choice to be added. Interesting.
Shooting Guard discussion next..

Question: The way this is going...
...if the next 10 end up giving us this in total:
Of the Top-60 Players from 60 Years:
- 57 are from the first 50 years
- 3 are from the last 10 years
Does anyone else see a logical flaw there? I mean c'mon man. |

^^ The logic is that players who have had the whole of their carrer to achieve will likely be chosen over players who have only played part of their career. Why is this so hard to grasp? |

Because the "last 10 years" I'm talking about would make up for exactly
what you're saying.
Why? Because when the "50 Greatest" was picked 10 years ago, there
were just as many players in the league who had "only played 3, 5, 7" years to where they couldn't be judged.
Follow?
Just like LBJ is too young now, Iverson was too young then.
It's still a full 10 years, because both points of time had the same number
of younger players who could potentially be picked (or passed over) for
being a "Great."
It doesn't make sense. |

Barkley's arguement is that Kobe hasn't achieved as much as some of his picks. I disagree with Chuck.
Kenny says Kobe is in his Top 50. Doug Collins concurs, but says Kobe's defense has slacked in the last few years. Says people dont choose him because he's an easy person not to like, an easy target of criticism.
Magic says Kobe is the most competitve person in the career.
Kenny compares Kobe's easy to hate factor to Bill Laimbeers. The panel agrees.
Kenny and Magic both also had A.I. on their ballots. |
