Not to steal your thunder Lakers First but I felt I had to make this thread because I have a decent track record for huge games!

Miami Heat (24-12) @ Los Angeles Lakers (17-21)

•Thursday, January 17, 2013
•7:30PM PT│10:30PM ET - Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA

Tale of the Tape

Steve Nash 6'0"
Kobe Bryant 6'6"
Metta World Peace 6'7"
Earl Clark 6'10"
Dwight Howard 6'11"

vs

Mario Chalmers 6'1"
Dwyane Wade 6'4"
Lebron James 6'8"
Udonis Haslem 6'8"
Chris Bosh 6'10"

Current Trends

The Lakers are coming off of two huge victories (for them at least), and are looking to have that momentum propel them over the struggling Miami Heat. The emergence of Earl Clark has given the Lakers a huge boost in terms of defensive potential and overall activity on the court. Additionally, Dwight Howard looks to be as close to 100% as he has all season. If Pau Gasol returns, it will be interesting to see how he fits within the starting lineup.

The Heat are first in the East though that isn't saying much. The defending champions are coming off a string of losses and will likely come out firing on all cylinders looking to make this a statement game. Lebron is playing the best basketball of his career, though Wade has declined from where he was at just a few years ago.

Hopefully Pau and Earl will be good to go for this game. Start Earl and have Pau come off the bench. I have gone out on a limb in another thread predicting a Laker victory. Don't let me down Lakers!

If the Lakers get down by more then 10 points in this game, it's practically OVER.

I have a feeling Dwight is going to destroy the Heat. They have nobody that can stop him.

LAL 119

MIA 117

it'll go into overtime. Metta will foul out ((bleep) crooked refs) and Dwight will play a significant amount of the game with 5 fouls.

Kobe will get a fraction of the calls he deserves, while Wade will get above average FTAs. LeChoke will whine and complain.

Earl Clark will play limited but impact minutes and may have to run to the locker room to barf/crap his guts out. Hopefully he won't infect the rest of the team.

If pau plays alot minutes over Earl i have no hope in this game. Miami is the worst matchup in the league for Pau.

Keys to the game: DO NOT LET Chalmers and Ray Allen kill you from behind the arc... oh and please do not let Bosh get 25-30 points.

Yes, If they go small with Battier. That's a tough cover for Pau. Battier has missed 3 games with a hamstring injury. Haslem is a better match up for Pau. I am assuming Dwight will guard Bosh.

I'm confident that if the heat play small ball, (Lebron at the 4) I have confidence that we can match up well with that, now that earl has emerged as a reliable/fiesty defender.

If pau does indeed come back for this game, I have no confidence at all wih D'antoni's substitution patterns. If there was a game where pau started off the bench to spell Dwight, this is it.

I hope we just win. You're putting your reputation on the line.

Listed but he's nowhere near that in reality. I've seen him in person too and he's pretty tiny.

The Heat just signed Dexter Pittman. He is expected to be in LA for this game. Don't know much about him but I wonder if he will start or be a back up?

I thought he was still on their team. Well I guess he's back. He's a big body to throw at Dwight nothing more. If he starts then go for it.

Miami has the best shooting % in the NBA on the road at 47.8%..

If we can hold them to around 45% shooting we will win this game

Not that I don't want Pau to get better, but I really don't want him starting this game. Pau on Battier or LeBron is a HUGE mismatch.

Battier on Pau is also a huge mismatch if they put him on Pau...although Lebron would probably do a better job i doubt they have him guard Pau all game since it takes a lot of energy fronting him
