I just got serious about switching from DirecTV to Time Warner but its not even available to my address. What the hell??

I'm curious to know how many other fans in the Laker area want to switch but TWC is not available at their address

TWC is available in my area. In fact, my internet is provided through them. However, I have DIRECTV for TV services and have no desire or plans to switch just because I may miss a few games.

The channel will eventually come to DIRECTV and the other providers.

If DirecTV doesn't get the Lakers channel I'll just have both til they do... Twc has no cancellation fee,no contracts... Which means I can get twc just for the Lakers season, and if/when direct takes their heads out of their asses I can just cancel twc with no fuss. $29.99 a month for the "Lakers" package, lol.

Welcome to the world of cable monopolies in the United States. Cable companies are allowed to negotiate directly with cities, townships, neighborhoods, etc. to gain exclusivity to that area. Some places you can get Charter, others Cox, others Comcast, others Time Warner. But the one thing that nearly all of those places have in common is that if you can get cable service from a particular company, you can only get service from that company. At one point I lived in an apartment in a city that had a deal with Charter. Everywhere in the city was Charter EXCEPT my apartment building, which had Adelphia.

I actually just switched today. DirecTV was offering me several discounts just for me to stay and for being a loyal customer for so many years, but since TWC is within my area i had no choice but to switch over.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get NBA League Pass than have both TW and DTV at the same time?

league pass does you absolutely no good if you live in the Lakers area.... All and I repeat all Lakers games will be blacked out on NBA league pass unless you live outside the Lakers area.

How do they verify the area?

I switched also, had direcTV for 10 years, i have the idea that directv will Cave to TWs demands when the season starts because if they dont, DTV will lose lots of LA subscribers due to this happening
