Once again, refs put their fingerprints on the outcome. What a disgrace. Call it both ways, that's all I ask.

What an awful capitulation. How the hell do you lose against this team when you're up 16 at home? Kobe and Gasol were like the Keystone Kops down the stretch.

I'm tired of seeing Kobe playing in extremes.. but he is who he is.. I don't want to blame the game on him since there was plenty of choking all around and it shouldn't come to that.. but, he did not set the right tone on either ends of the floor.. all jumpshots and "chasing" for the ball (basically like Phil says he knows where to get to in the triangle that his teammates have to pass him the ball doesn't matter how many shots in succession he takes), on D, giving wide open shots.

it's time for the lakers to realize that Kobe's days of "closing" are numbered. The other guys cannot believe that Kobe will bail them out. Even from last year's playoffs, the close wins came from guys rebounding off Kobe's miss.

Lakers have no one to blame but themselves.

-They lose a 16 point lead at home.
-They had horrible offensive efficiency late in the game with Dallas going on a 10 - 2 run.
-Turnovers late in the game. I have never seen Kobe and Pau play this erratic and foolish in the clutch before.

Yep. It was a matter of odds, overconfidence will bite us in the butt at some point and it did tonight.

We had a nice lead and the Laker's overconfidence did us in. We can't be clutch everytime.

Lakers just not dominant anymore - years past they wouldve increased the lead not lose it - this team the way their playing would be crushed by the heat.

Kobe took the Charles Barkley bait & directed the offense entirely through him rather than via team play - his misses led to instant points, his offense never energized the other players and his turnovers crushed the lakers!

So you're saying you have no faith in Kobe with 20 secs. left and 80 yr. old Kidd on him?

Kobe with 0 assists!

What's the point of having HCA if you're just going to keep on losing Game 1? When will this team ever learn?

my theory is that they're losing these game 1's on purpose to prepare themselves for when they don't have hca in the finals.

i mean, there has to be a reason. right? right??!

How can the refs even look themselves in the mirror after this one...touch foul bailing out the Mavs for 2 FT's FOR THE LEAD, then on the other end Jason Kidd runs straight into Gasol causing him to drop the ball. NO CALL. RIGGED.

Are people actually blaming Kobe? If some of those scrubs on the bench actually showed up and stopped taking long jumpers the game would have different. Kobe was the only thing keeping us in the game.

exactly, i don't agree Kobe did it because of something that fat bastard said, but it was one of those nights that you know Kobe's gonna be shoot first. you're right, difference with Kobe is whenever he goes off, was because his outside shots were falling, not because he attacked baskets and gotten easy layups and dunks, as his teammates, it gets very frustrating seeing him dribble the ball for 10 seconds and does his head fake that no one in the league is buying anymore other than rookies and then jacking up that fall away jumper.

Kobe only played 35 minutes and he had Kidd on him. Should've closed them out but he choked. No more being gassed excuse

i was surprised how stronger Kidd is compare to Kobe. Kobe is taller but Kidd has a stronger frame than Kobe. all Kidd did was bodying him up without reaching in and there's nothing Kobe could do.

Lakers screwed themselves. The Mavs were just running their offense and getting unbelievable production from their bench while the Lakers just took stupid shot after stupid shot. Phil certainly didn't help matters with his bizarre rotation. I thought he sat Kobe down too long in the fourth. And amazing that down the stretch the Lakers just stood around and expected Kobe to bail them out. Just a stupid choke job tonight. Lakers make a series harder than it should be by giving away games. Now Dallas actually thinks they can take it from the Lakers. Game 2 is a must win and their defense better show up.
