People were crying when it went over 3 bucks a few years back |
I remember back in 1991 when gas was $1.03. The thing is, we were getting over like crazy spending that little on gas. We got spoiled. _________________ Just because you can doesn't mean you should. |

All the soccer moms in their giant SUVs continue to pass me routinely on the freeway doing 85-95mph. Doesn't seem to be changing behavior much as far as I can tell. _________________

At the beginning of the year, there were reports suggesting gas may hit up to $5 / gal this year before rolling back to low $4. We're still on the upward swing right now. |

Doesn't make that much of a difference in my Prius. In my explorer though, yeah, it's painful. Next car will be either another Prius, or a CNG, or electric |

Nope. Dependence on foreign oil is clearly the best strategy. Especially since the oil producing nations are probably the most stable on the planet.
We're good. Don't need no new fangled stuff. Plus, turbines and solar panels are just ugly. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Fallout from quantitative easing. Its going to get worse. Other parts of the world have felt the efftects of the QEs with the increase in food prices.........we are going to start feeling the pinch too. |

CNG seems to work but not sure why they stopped going with the idea.. Electric still uses fuel/oil from our homes i think either way were still using up oil in another form _________________ Luke Walton= where eating too much BBIQ Sandwiches happened

Doesn't Canada supply most of the oil to the US? I thought I heard that on the news in recent days, although I'm not sure if that's the case.
We're paying $1.233 per litre of regular gas today here in Toronto so if my math is correct (not a math major here) and 1 US gallon equals 3.79L then our price converts to $4.67 per gallon. |

About $4.50 at some stations here in Santa Barbara.
Worst thing is that this does not even get into the taxes you pay to subsidize oil companies, or how much it costs to maintain the 6th Fleet to basically protect the supply (which I've read works out to about $3/gallon by itself). The true cost of oil is much higher than just the pump price.
I am glad I got into the solar energy business as a career change |

My understanding is that Canada is the largest single exporter of oil to the United States, but it's nowhere near a majority of total US consumption. Maybe you're saying Canada ships most of its oil to the US, to the detriment of domestic consumption, and that's almost certainly true, but I haven't looked up the precise breakdown. _________________
