I vote 100 posts or 30 days, whichever comes later...
100 posts AND 30 days = much better LG.
That would be even better.
Good idea.
Even better would be if new people couldn't post until their post count was 100. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

All,
We are currently experimenting with a new feature that requires users to have at least 100 posts before they can start a new thread. After we gauge the effects of this feature we will decide whether to keep it, remove it, or change the minimum post count.
Users who pad their post count in order to get to 100 will be dealt with in the harshest manner allowable. Consider this your one and only warning not to pad your post count.
Guess I wont be starting any new topics anytime soon.
EDIT: didnt realize I had 255 posts.. I am tearing it up
I may not be a very active participant, but I'd like some credit for lurking all these years. I think it's safe to assume that long-time lurkers aren't going to start trolling.

I would shoot a PM to a Mod, and ask for an acceptance with you. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Glad to see the new policy, hope it will cut down on the troll threads especially with the playoffs around the corner.
As for post padding, it's possible to get hundreds within just one round of playoffs (not just within the game threads either) so the 30 day is going to be necessary at some point.

I don't post that often and don't think I've ever created a thread here, but I think this is a great idea. I think putting a time limit like others have suggested would also be a good idea.

happy about that.
even more happy to see you post again larry - maybe it's just me, but i haven't seen you post lately, and even when it's procedural stuff like this - always glad to feel your presence here.

Little known fact, but Larry created Al Gore, who in turn invented the internet. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
This sucks because the new fans that want to say hello with a new thread won't be able to, and also, long time lurkers won't be able to come out of the shadows and make some of their very good posts.
But it does get rid of the trolls, i guess.
Good points.
How about
1) Keep a long term thread for introducing oneself (stickied?)
That would give new fans a way to say hello without a new thread.
2) 100 posts OR 1 year member?
3) Don't count game thread posts towards the 100?
As several have pointed out, one can rqack up posts quickly
in game threads.

This would be my sentiment as well, i lurked for years before really posting much. Lately ive posted more than i ever have, and my count still isnt impressive.

Awesome!!!
LG has plenty of posters, I highly doubt that you will have trouble attracting new posters. At least worthwhile new posters that actually want to talk about the Lakers and not slam them or us.
It would be interesting to see who mentioned this first!
I know a lot of us have brought this up over the years, every time some silly nube spoke before they thought. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain
