I thought it was funny, but too obvious. How long has Downey been sober? Do we still need to make rehab jokes?

No more pills or alcohol,
No more pot or Demorol,
No more stinking fun at all!

You mean your friend the drug addict who joked about having sex with 5 of the actresses in the room at once? But that wasn't tasteless because he's your friend.

I enjoyed seeing your friends ridiculed quite a bit, actually. If they were humiliated then so be it. I mean if I took a bunch of drugs and became so disoriented that I stumbled my way into a complete stranger's home and then eventually her bed, I'd have a sense of humor about it later. But then again I'm not your friend.

Ricky set the tone by opening the show recounting Sheen's dalliances in a hotel room? Classless.

"Classless." Another empty word that really means "I didn't like it."

Dude if you have nothing better to do at 12:30 at night than to parse my words, I think you have other issues.

And yes, "my friend the drug addict" whose movies have grossed over a bilion dollars can say whatever the fcuk he wants .

OK go parse my words with your lame little paragraph breakdowns. I've said my piece and am done here.

I did have better things to do. I did those things too.

So you're just going to lay out an insultingly stupid dead-end argument and then take your ball and go home when you're met with mere disagreement? Well, c'mon, what a waste of (bleep) time.

Let's deconstruct your little fit of fake righteous indignation even more: Your "friend" Downey Jr.'s movies have grossed billions of dollars which for which you've qualified him to say whatever he wants. So now help me with a question, if you would please, Mr. Friend to the Stars. How many millions of dollars must Ricky's movies gross until he can say what he wants? 400? 800? What's the minimum box office gross that would make you comfortable with what he says?

If Ricky was your friend would it be okay then? If you can't answer these questions then all you're left with is some hurt feelings on behalf of a friend, to which I say, respectfully, boo (bleep) hoo.

To most of you, you see celebs as these one dimensional type people. Out takes and sound bites from the news.

Not at all. I grew up with several family friends who were celebrities and I also personally knew many more who were neighbors, associates of my parents or parents of my friends.

I now work in the entertainment industry and know and work with many more celebrities to include amongst those friends and acquaintances over the years. One few of my wife and I's dearest friends was in attendance as were several other people we have worked with and come to know over the years.

One of those directly skewered during the show is a long time friend and associate of my Mom who has known him for many years after working with him on several films. ANd in fact she was at my house watching the GG's with my family because this week she is leaving to go overseas to do another film with him. She laughed when he was teased by Gervais because she knows he was laughing to.

So I am very aware that celebrities are real people because they are people I know and work with. And it's because I know them as real people that I know that they are people who understand the nature of such joking in such a manner because they are funny, confident, self-deprecating well adjusted people.

So please don't be silly and try and make this about other people not understanding celebrities or not having an inappropriate sense of humor.

This is simply about you not finding it funny for whatever reason that may be. Which, as others have said, is fine. But t is purely your thing to wrangle. It's got nothing to do with the rest of us. So unsaddle your horse. It's not as high as you think it is.

It was one of the low moments of the show for me, but not because it was "classless". Given Charlie's past and the nature of his indiscretions (and unapologetic manner in which he repeats them), there's nothing classless about making jokes about such classless behavior.

It was simply a low moment because it was too long and not very funny. Ricky should have stopped after the "breakfast" one liner. That was funny. But then he just recounted Charlie's latest controversy without any real punchline to follow it.

And I might add that as Gervais was doing so, Charlie was out creating another of his controversial moments while at a porn convection making jokes about dead hookers. So I don't think there's much mileage in throwing out Charlie Sheen as the unfair victim of "classless humor".

And there are plenty others of us in the same situation who disagree. So quit throwing that out there as if it somehow lends weight to your own PERSONAL opinion while diminishing that of others.

lmao. This makes me wonder just how big a cut of Robert Downey Jr.'s billions of box office dollars dubaholic1 is pocketing for the inconvenience of defending Mr. Downey Jr.'s online honor. A piss-poor job of defending it, might I add, which must mean that it's not be a very big cut.

Downey's a cheap bastard when it comes to buying friends.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go pawn my home movies. Gotta start chipping away at that billion dollar lifetime gross. When it comes to being able to say what you want, every penny counts.

No one on the Golden Globes panel (or whatever the hell it is) is mad at Ricky for what he did, even on the commercials for the GG's he was saying how he was going to take shots at the stars.

It made headlines and got more people talking about the globes which is what they want and made Gervais seem like he's some sort of rebel going against the man so he could keep his comedy street cred, it was a win-win for both sides.

I love it!

Skewered again by the fascist Lakersground Triumvirate of Stooges.

My fault for having an opposing view.

It's fine, I am crying in my Clicquot. Honored to be held to a higher standard.

Fascist?

That would be the guy telling everyone what they should and shouldn't find funny while attempting to define "taste" for everyone while chastising people for not knowing that celebrities are real people, and thus attempting to negate their point of view.

It wasn't that you had an opposing view, it's that you had a silly view that you only had because you claim to be besties with Robert Downey Jr.

The fact remains that people that choose to enter into a business where they will be constantly rejected and criticized, where they will achieve fame that will cause them to be open to public scrutiny better be able to laugh off a harmless joke at a meaningless award show or get out of the (bleep) business. It didn't look like he was as devastated by the joke as you are. So what's the big deal?

Fascist? I knew this is a term that idiots are using in politics to denigrate anyone that opposes them, but in LG? Seriously? Do you even know what a Fascist or what Fascism is? If you do, then think about it, and ask yourself if it really applies here, or if you are making yourself out to be a bigger idiot than you first let on.
