I'm sorry but even WHEN Bynum returns, LO deserves to be the starter.

(This coming from someone who's pro-Bynum)

Only problem is Bynum isn't getting paid 14 mil to come off the bench.

So you would force Bynum as a starter even when LO is a much better fit right now?

That doesn't make a lot of sense.

The best plan would be to ease Bynum with the bench (in which he could really thrive) and if he's beasting again, put him back as a starter.

Right now, LO fits like a glove and I don't mean Gary Payton.

So far not much to complaint about. Kobe is looking a lot better than I thought judging by pre season. Bench is as good as advertised. LO is beasting. Only if Pau can play less minutes.

Completely agree... we got some defensive studs in Artest, Barnes, Blake, and Kobe!

When Drew gets back. Till then, he's gonna be run into the ground. He's shown he can play tons of minutes.

Love him for this though. Alot on him defensive & offensive wise right now.

Blake is not a defnsive stud ...but solid.
Let me say this Bynum should start ...bench needs another facilitator though with blake they dont need it as bad as we did last year. thing is we should try and kep 2 out of 3 of our star big men on the floor as much as possible. Plus i think odom assumes a huge leadership role with that group. Odom probably closes game regardless.

PAU AND ODOM HAD A MONSTER GAME TONIGHT!

Both of our big boys deserved to be in All-start.

If not, it is a disgrace for basketball.

Let's see Odom maintain it.. then he'll deserve all-star spot.. he might this year if Bynum doesn't get a lot of minutes in the first half of the season.

Our bench is doing okay tonight on the road.

That is the best part. Our bench was ok at home most nights last year though they choked leads at times at staples too. But thi sgroup looks like they can play on the road ...good start for our new bench.

Staggering lines by Pau and Odom tonight.

Kobe shot well and brought the rebounds and assists.

Let me guess: a young buck that never played any bball? Are you serious? 32 yr old with his 5th knee surgery and you dont give him nothing. People that actually plays ball knows knee is one of the most critical if not most critical to bball. Ask anyone that had an ACL tear...

Kids these days...

definitely not young. and definitely played some ball. you missed the point i was trying to make. kobe's not giving any excuses so i'm not taking any. i believe kobe is a nba 1st team D player, when he wants to be. but he doesn't want to be most of the year, he'll turn it on a few times during the year against particular opponents and during the playoffs. you can't really tell me he doesn't get caught ball watching or just plain being lazy during games.

i'm just tired of people pickin on pau when the problem on D isn't him alone. if he's helping fish on a pnr, then rotation has to come around until he gets back in position. and if that ball goes up, he'll be out of position for the reb. moreover, if the refs aren't going to call the push or hold by lopez, then pau gets screwed.

By your comments I know you havent hit your 30s yet... call me back when you do. Trust me, your perspective changes. You dont heal as fast. Kobe has played more minutes at age 32 than any other 32 year old in NBA history. By NBA age hes more like 37. Now Kobe is anomaly in that hes such a workout freak. He cant play 1st Team D all day anymore.

But, he can improve on consistency on that end and will as his knee gets better. Also, Bigs are judged differently than guards as they have much bigger role on defense as guards have more ball handling duties.

Anyways, we win. 2-0. This years team looks much better than last year's so no need to get started with these player hate this early. (I prefer we dont have any at all with Farmar gone but this is LG... we will have another 30 Kobe Shots Too Much threads by all star break alone.)[/quote]

If I understand it right, you were saying Kobe sometime did not defend well(or he did not want to ).

WHy that is a problem? he is 32, and it is a regular game, if Kobe does not defend much, I am ok with it.

Odom has had two really good games and consecutive games at that. Amazing. Kobe looks surprisingly good and it should only get better. Barnes and Blake have played well.

Not sure why people are complaining about the defense. The Lakers never played their best defense until the playoffs. Everyone should know this by now.

He's been scored on once tonight. Hill in transition on a reverse pivot under the rim. Childress and JRich have missed those "lazy" contested triples. Give the guy some credit. Gave up only 2-points all night on D.

Didn't Turk just dribble from 20-feet all the way in for a layup with Pau on his hip?

rewatching the game now:

-1st quarter, kobe goes under screen, jrich hits 3 up top, 7lal-4phx.
+ooh, that was nasty, crossover pull back j over dragic! (ankle insurance?)
-oops, kobe gets caught ball watching and doesn't box out dudley who gets o-reb and put back 23lal-22phx
-kobe with lazy d, closest to nash but doesn't step out, making pau step out from the mid key for a wing 3 68lal-62phx
-hill on transition reverse pivot

you're right, pretty good for an old guy with 5 knee surgeries. let's be honest though, this is nitpicking the best player in the nba who happens to be on a hobbled knee. not too shabby. my point is he takes some plays off, and he's entitled to at this point. but if we cut him some slack at this point in the season, let's cut some slack to pau who's holding fort pretty good. LO is ballin as well.

Lakers 2-0!!!

i agree with you. i was just irritated at that point in the game. kobe is the best in the biz, and although not bulletproof every play, he's money when it matters. i wasn't trying to hate, i'm just trying to be real about it. i hold everyone accountable, regardless if he's the superstar, or the luke walton of the team. so i get upset if kobe is doggin it by not boxing out just as well as farmar last year. that being said. LAKERS Victory! 2-0!!!!

I loved how the crowd started booing when Phil put Kobe/Pau/Lamar back in late in the 4th quarter and the Suns were making a run.

I guess the Suns fans were hoping that Phil would let the bench ride out the game.

Even I was wondering if Phil would ride his bench to finish the game.

Solid performance by Kobe, Pau, Odom, Blake, Barnes, and Brown.

Good think the Lakers have a very favorable schedule early in the season. Kobe will continue to strengthen up and the bench will continue to integrate themselves into the system.
